So they will be playing in the street this year?

I think the Houston debacle has strengthened the resolve of Direct/Dish/U-verse/etc to say no.  Good.

Meanwhile, my local MLS soccer team went from cable to antenna (second-tier "CW" level station) and saw its viewership and attendance skyrocket.

Hell, several minor-league games in the area (baseball, hockey, soccer, etc) are being shown on Youtube or UStream. I'm more likely to watch and follow *those* than the cable sportsnets I don't get.

Can't they at least mollify Dodger fans by showing the 3rd through 7th innings?

The only way to stop this kind of shiat is for more people to simply walk away and stop caring. At some point it simply isn't worth the cost.

The Padres went through it last year, and they don't even have their own network.

The Dodgers and Lakers should have joined together on their network if they had to have their own.  People don't want to pay for separate networks for every goddamn sport.  This isn't New York.  We don't like being raped here in California.

Judging by what people are saying about the Dodgers and their cable-TV deal....how much will they
charge for people to NOT watch? (As in the joke about costing $10 to get in...and $1000 to get out.)

I think the concept is stupid too. I mean what is the TWC Lakers channel going to show during the off-season?  The Dodgers would've been great filler during the off-season and would've been the perfect fit. But it looks like both the Dodgers and TWC are flying too close to the sun.

Maybe a local channel can get trollish and start broadcasting Giants games. They'll eventually play the Dodgers, right?
