Glad everyone is making jokes about the protests in Thailand that have resulted in several people being shot and killed. I guess since Thailand isn't a white country or since they don't have significant oil reserves, their attempts at ousting a corrupt government, who has cheated the Thai people at every turn, is ignored by most everyone. It is also crappy that so- called journalists, like the bbc, call these efforts antidemocratic without taking the time to understand what is actually going on. They must be in bed with that wannabe dictator Thaksin.

I, for one, could stand for a good breast protest.

My eip has the appropriate permits for such a protest.

I don't like that there's fish sauce in everything.  Luckily there are some vegetarian versions.

Yeah, I'm sure that's it. It's all part of a big conspiracy.

Thai and Thigh don't have even close to the same pronunciation.

Kyosuke: Thai and Thigh don't have even close to the same pronunciation.

Really, Francis, really?

Native English speakers pronounce the "th" that way until they learn otherwise.

And they've all learned that Thai isn't pronounced thigh. You can't defend the headline on the basis that an infant might get it by virtue of not being able to speak English properly.

Say what?  The headline is merely supposed to be funny.  (It's meh.)  Most of us remember the first time we were corrected on pronouncing "Thai" and it's a common grammar school joke.  So I don't know what you guys are taking issue with.

But it's not funny.  It's kinda dumb.  First thing I thought of was "Really, the subby thinks that's pronounced "thigh"?"  Which I woud be willing to bet is what actually happened.

It was also a running joke in The Hangover 2.

I'm not sure what folks are upset about.  Thailand is my second home and while the headline wasn't LOL funny or anything, it's passable for Fark.

They are calling for the creation of an unelected "people's council" to oversee electoral and political change

I'm sure the folks in B
eijing  would be more than happy to help with that.
