Expect to hear this a LOT on companies that rely on walk-up sales in the coming months.

I throw my ham on some Panera rye with some mayo and tomato.

So I walk into Panera bread for a God damned stale bear claw and a cup of Starbucks-free coffee.  And I can't help but notice, they've got a bacon souffle left on the counter.

My bacon souffle.

The fat broad two people ahead of me eyes it and I resist the urge to club her like a baby seal, and finally I'm the next one in line.  The guy in front of orders a harmless breakfast sandwich and a coffee.  I'm home.

The cashier rings him up.  "Sir", she says, "I noticed your rewards card says you get a free souffle today.  Would you like a free souffle?"

The man is stunned.  He is not sure what this "souffle" thing is.  He is not sure where he is.  Reality slips to the side of everyone until finally he says, "sure I would like a free souffle".

She hands him my souffle and he walks out without a word, looking at it like it's from outer space.

She asks if she can help me.  So I say, " I would like a bacon souffle, please".

Burn in hell, Panera,  Burn in hell.

Raising prices just seems like a vulgar display of power to me. I don't care much for their prices as it is, and now I'm far beyond driven to just look elsewhere for my grub. This "global warming" thing is just a new level of them trying to gouge your wallet.

I've been in the situation before. I ring up some stuff at one of their locations, realize it costs more than what I thought it would, and now I'm broken.

It might sound like heresy to you, but I'm becoming less inclined to eat there. Regular people might have to put up with that stuff, but I've got strength beyond strength. I just look at their doors like they were cemetery gates, and walk.

I've only been to Panera once. The menu was confusing and the food was expensive and average tasting. Selection was also limited, as far as I could tell from the looking at the menu.

I haven't ever been back.

We went when they first opened. It took them 10 minutes to figure out how NOT to put the caramized onions on the sandwich when we told them we were allergic. Seriously, they couldn't figure out how to not put them on. When we got home, we found out the spread on the bread was filled with chopped onion. We've yet to go back.

Panera is... eh. Okay. Pretty pricey for 'eh'.  I get brought in by friends or need somewhere to 'camp' for a couple of hours in a random town (refill coffee and wifi).

But, I'll give them credit for picking locations. I can't recall ever being in one that wasn't surprisingly busy. And mostly families.. not wifi campers.

Weather != Climate. God, how hard is it to get that through you people's skulls? Christ, every time it gets cold everyone's all "Global warming this" and Global warming that." Sick of it.

On a serious note, we've been having record setting 80+ degree days in February. Got tons of miles in on the bike over the weekend, and it is absolutely gorgeous out. If this is what global warming has in store for us, sorry islanders, you can go to hell. I'm going to start burning oil drums in the backyard.

Obamacare raised the cost of my health insurance by $200/mo. That's a lot for me to deal with, but if you can afford to eat at Panera Bread on a regular basis, it's not going to be "killing" your budget.

I don't seek Panera out, but if I'm in the area of one and I'm looking for a place for lunch I'll go on occasion.  The quality is far superior to Subway for only a few bucks more, so I consider it a pretty good value, and it doesn't leave me feeling like I've swallowed a lead ball like the fast food burger joints do.

Now I work closer to a Pita Pit than a Panera Bread, so that's become my go-to lunch spot.

Panera is another word for bread. So the place is calling itself "Bread Bread"?

...it's a short piece, and I've read it at least four times. I don't see anywhere that says they're raising prices because of this.

Ate at a Panera once, it was not on my dime,  Which is good as i was not impressed, i would take subway over it any day.

Panera is great road food. Fast, pretty much everywhere and often near highways, and actually real food rather than just grease with dabs of meat thrown in.

It's a tremendous step up from most fast food for not much more money. Very useful to have around.

Yeah! A tree does not equal forest! Its not like weather is based on long term patterns that have changed. Scientists are money grubbing jerks!

I still haven't done Panera. I have La Madaline for pricey sandwiches, but if you ask for eggs ala normandie it's eggs benedict on croissant for about $8. Beats the shiat out of McDonalds McMuffins.

Well, to be fair the preferred nomenclature these days is "climate change".  I'm not a climate change denier, but I too am sick of every case of extreme weather being trotted out as "proof".

Drought in California.  Well, obviously climate change.  Any hurricane or heavy snow storm.  Climate change.  Fire?  Pine beetles?  Asian carp?  Crazy ants?  Climate change.

Taken together as a whole it may be evidence, but no one single weather event is proof or disproof of climate change.

We've gone from -20 to 60 in the last few weeks.  That's a bit of a wider swing than normal, but not unheard of at all.

I would have gone 10/10 if you managed to work in Hole In The Sky or Cowboys From Hell.
