flexflint: danzak: The main force being used here are Berkut, an interior "special force". Kyiv police previously refused to support the aggressions, I suspect that is happening now too. Getting the Army involved is dangerous because a large portion of them may not move against their countrymen. In fact, there are rumours that soldiers may be heading to Kyiv to support the protests. There's also an Interior army but these are mostly young kids from poor families. There's about 5000 Berkut that can move against the Maidan, that may not be enough, they've been beaten back a few times. But they will make sure that more blood will be spilled.

Yanukovich has run out of options, nobody can trust him to negotiate anymore. This will end violently, one way or another.

There are Twitter rumors about 22 instead of 9 deaths now.

Entire regiments of soldiers choosing sides (against the government) usually is a turning point. Any support from rural communities?

I think the turning point has happened. Basically, the gov't was to vote to repeal the laws brought in on Dec 16 and begin limiting the powers of the President. It looked like Yanukovich lost some support even in his party and he would lose the vote so he stopped it trying to buy time. Then, when the protesters started to move towards Parliament, all he'll broke loose. People have been shot for Chrissakes, with 22 now being reported killed. Yanukovich has no way out now other than violence, which I think he will lose but with a lot more blood. Whether the army gets involved and start shifting alliances will determine if this turns into a full out civil war. Hard to believe that this is the 2nd largest country in Europe, this is like the wars I spent my Saturday mornings learning about.

Many thanks, most sincererly.

Igor Jakovsky: Looks like the protesters are kicking those fires up a notch and lucky for them the wind is blowing away from them.  Thats a ton of smoke with god knows what in it.

Let's just say every one is gonna ha respiratory problems later and well heat seeking missiles are only god for the barricade.I Which from other videos seems to be tires, pallets, 50 gallon drums filled with trash, cars, trucks, and any thing else that will make a barricade and or burn.

That's what they are going to do...  put out the fire in that section and break through.

The captured soldier shown on stage earlier has been treated by Maidan doctors and sent to the hospital with protection.

Hackers have just gotten a hold of all the governments radio ability and are calling on the soldiers/police to join them...  This is great!!

They did a couple weeks ago and it was quickly destroyed.  It was less than spectacular anyway.

This reminds of the riots in the Eastern Bloc countries in the late-80s, as the Soviet Union collapsed.

Which way shall the winds of history blow this time...

Yeah, it's dangerous times in Eastern Europe right now. From the blue pages I read back in the 90's that why we got into Bosnia-Herzegovina.

Oh and don't forget Poland. Well Russia said from the beginning the weren't happy with the missile shield thing and they sure weren't happy with Poland leaving there sphere of influence that's happaning in Ukraine now. So one up thread said the quote "A bad peace is worse than war" it's true and Nato, the US, and the EU still farking with old Soviet client states. Someones gonna get us into a war that no one wins.

/Yes that is my fear.

They did have some really good stuff playing this afternoon when I checked in.  I wish they had the little dealy in the bottom corner that tells you what song/artist it is. Maybe some direct iTunes links so I could go buy it.

I wonder if the soundhound app would work on it?  I just tried it on the song the guys on stage were singing and it came up with the Ukrainian National Anthem which was correct.
