I read that as tranny.  Suddenly that DHS chick looked really suspicious.

apparently water cannons have to be refilled periodically. they're back.

danzak: I think the turning point has happened. Basically, the gov't was to vote to repeal the laws brought in on Dec 16 and begin limiting the powers of the President. It looked like Yanukovich lost some support even in his party and he would lose the vote so he stopped it trying to buy time. Then, when the protesters started to move towards Parliament, all he'll broke loose. People have been shot for Chrissakes, with 22 now being reported killed. Yanukovich has no way out now other than violence, which I think he will lose but with a lot more blood. Whether the army gets involved and start shifting alliances will determine if this turns into a full out civil war. Hard to believe that this is the 2nd largest country in Europe, this is like the wars I spent my Saturday mornings learning about.

With so much chaos, someone will do something stupid. And when they do, things will turn nasty.

Ukraine's "We are Europeans" movement urges the country's Olympians at the Winter Games in Sochi, Russia, to stop competing to show solidarity with the protesters, Radio Liberty reports.

danzak: Also seeing from other sources that the ex PMs son has chartered flights and is flying out members of the Party of Regions (Yanukovich's party).

That is interesting, these things generally are and it sounds ;like it's heating back up from earlier. As I said eariler I never tought I would see a medieval seige but all the shields, defenses
It's well known medieval defenders used fire. Yes the form of the combat that is happening is interesting and it seems right now both sides are in a propaganda war

There are reports that Ukrainian journalist Vyacheslav Veremei of Kiev based newspaper, Vesti, has died of injuries sustained in the clashes. There are reports from a colleague and a Euromaidan twitter account that he had been shot.

The sun is rising soon.  Now they are asking fresh people to replace the ones who are tired and wet, to rally around a specific monument.  Also, to save Molotov cocktails until the turtle formations are close.

Try a foes different EspressoTV links on YouTube. Some are down but you should find a working one (mines the third on the list)

From BBC: Rinat Akhmetov, one of Ukraine's richest men - and a powerful financial backer of Mr Yanukovych - said there were "no circumstances that would justify the use of force against peaceful citizens".

Okay, so basically it's the barricade scene from "Les Miserables" only with a less catchy musical score.

The problem always is that peaceful citizens are always tried to be removed and become very un-peaceful quickly.

Tale as old as time.

There are two good feeds here, one from youtube and one through Ustream. http://www.interpretermag.com/ukraine-liveblog-intense-violence-in-ki e v/#0311

The same site has unconfirmed reports of a possible gun battle outside Kiev. The source is in Cyrillic so I have no idea if that's accurate or not. :/

For a while there it sounded like the tune in The Hunt for Red October.

Yea, I am guessing it's someone (LEO, Media, Protesters) directing traffic/attention.

The problem with fire is that it doesn't want to be controlled. It wants to be free

The buildings in that square were destroyed in W.W.2 and rebuilt. Looks like they will have to build again, at least the Trade Unions Building on the corner of the square

incidentally the little picture in picture on the espreso youtube feed is the reuters feed.

If Yanukovych starts losing the support of the oligarchs, it's game over for him

Wiki on The Building on fire (Trade Unions Building). It was an ugly soviet-era structure. The clock tower used to have a hammer and sickle on it as late as 2000.
