Yes, Newt, climate change *IS* a threat just as dangerous or more so than Iranian or North Korean nukes.

Yeah, but we can't bomb global climate change.  Takes all the fun out of saber rattling.

For someone who claims to be a history professor, Newt doesn't know an awful lot about how climate can affect societies. I mean, you could go back to the ancient Mayans or the Polynesians of Easter Island, but it's much easier to look at the f*cking Dust Bowl of the 1930s.

And I'll be damned if I'll ever accept a lecture from Gingrich on reality.

And to this --

Does kerrey really believe global warming more dangerous than north Korean and iranian nukes? More than Russian and Chinese nukes? Really? ?

How many times have we been told that homosexuals are a bigger threat than terrorism?  No harsh words for your followers who believe that Newt?

What a pathetic little man.  Shut up and return to your dustbin.

Oh, and of course Callista caught his spelling mistake. Callista's eyes see everything. Nothing escapes their gaze.

Like Medusa or Sauron, Callista's eyes.

In terms of cost, it absolutely is more damaging than terrorism. As for human life, it's much harder to pin down specific meteorological events on climate change, but drought and disease spread almost certainly has a higher death toll.

Aaaaaaaaand cue the climate trolls ........

Well Iranian nukes didn't make it snow a metric ton on my street and Chinese nukes don't cause me to run my AC all day during the summer. As far as I know...

Interesting use of capitalization on those tweets. kerrey, iranian, north Korean, China.

...equating the threat of climate change to terrorism and weapons of mass destruction

It's sad that that is controversial statement in America.

Shut up, newet.

The most dangerous thing is that which we can profit most from. Since Newts friends cannot profit from climate change (yet) its not important.

Newt, you are an idiot of the highest order. You are one who needs to STFU. Climate change is real. It is already causing problems that we can measure.

What Gingrich used to say before doing something about global warming was right wing kryptonite:

Gingrich, April 10, 2007: The evidence is sufficient that we should move towards the most effective possible steps to reduce carbon loading of the atmosphere

Kerry: And do it urgently - and now...

Gingrich: And do it urgently, yes. . . . I think there has to be a, if you will, a "green conservatism" - there has to be a willingness to stand up and say all right, here's the right way to solve these as seen by our value system.

Republicans have two jobs:
1.  Appearing to be moderate when not in power.
2.  Never being moderate at all when they have any power.

Why does anyone pay attention to Gingrich?  Has he contributed anything valuable to the public discourse... ever?

Yeah, Gingrich. Kerry was in Indonesia, which is in constant fear of natural disasters. And it's a big security issue.

You know who else said it was the biggest security risk in the PACOM AOR? That commie bastard Admiral Locklear.

I'm beginning to notice a pattern where, when a Republican disagrees with someone, they call for the impeachment or resignation of the person they disagree with.

No Rebuttal
No Counterpoint
No Solutions offered

Just, "I think you're wrong. You should quit so someone that agrees with me can do that job".

/ or do the plutocrats just assume they should be able to fire anyone that disagrees with them?

Being a liberal is a serious crime.  Everything makes sense when you assume they believe they're involved in a divine-mandated holy war.

Yep. They do not want anyone who can think for themselves.

Oh, wait, you don't hold any office.   Fark off, then.

Kindly shut the f*ck up, Newt. You haven't said anything of value in at LEAST 25 years.

Newts friends can profit from climate change, if they'd take a little risk (you know, risk is that thing rich people point to when they want to justify their ridiculous wealth).  They could pioneer clean energy, or more efficient ways to use the energy sources we have, or come up with new processes for recycling and conservation, or come up with better systems for agriculture and animal husbandry that aren't as water intensive or land-destructive...

farkit, if they can't stick a pipe in the ground and suck up fossil-based cash, or move money from point A to point B and skim off a little for the effort, then it ain't worth doing.

Newt thinks what Kerry said about global warming is right up there with all the crap that he did as Speaker before resigning from Congress in disgrace?

Also, why do Republicans think he's intelligent? 'Cause most of the time, he comes across like a farking moron.

The Republican criterion for being considered intelligent is SAYING you're intelligent. That's all it takes. cf. Paul Ryan.

Well, he is a professor - one of the few examples where you'll hear a tea-type, modern Republican not use the title as a pejorative. You see, when a professor says something you agree with, despite not being grounded in science or even common sense, suddenly being in academia is a validation rather than a cause for summary dismissal. Or something.

Professor A: "I, along with 98% of my international colleagues, have determined that humanity is directly contributing to dangerous climate change."

Typical conservative media consumer: "Oh please. Those ivory tower elites think they know everything."

Professor B: "I, for one, see nothing but a liberal conspiracy to strangle small businesses with job-killing environmental regulations."

Typical conservative media consumer: "See? A PROFESSOR said it! Stoopid libs!"

The hell we can't!

Don't like that the planet's average temperature is increasing?  We'll bomb it into nuclear winter.

So does Gingrich now claim that a nation-state having nukes is terrorism? I'm pretty sure the US has nukes, which would make us...terrorists?

It's really sickening how the Republicans dismiss the scientific fact of anthropogenic climate change. There is nothing left to debate except their sanity.
