Our cat runs round the house batshiat insane before a storm. We can tell if it's going to be rough when a small furry maniac streaks past our ankles in a blur and tries to run across the ceiling. During the actual storm he'll be under the duvet. He seems to have a range of about an hour before bad weather, I've always assumed they can feel changes in atmospheric pressure.

Back when I was about 18, we had a calico cat that was afraid of thunder. She would hear it while the storm was anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour away. When she heard thunderstorms coming she would hide on the basement stairs. The stronger the storm, the farther down the stairs she would hide. We eventually developed a projected severity system measured in steps. Anything over 6 steps meant lock down the house. The time she hid under the stairs the damage to the neighborhood was substantial. I never want to see trees do that again.

Time is full of idiots. Don't they realize how cats determine what the weather is like?
