big bureaucracy at work.  dictating what you can and can't feed your kids.  Invading further into your personal life.  Contradicting itself.

I would agree with you, but I'm not sure it's a public school. It says the Church of England school. Anybody know if it's public or private?

Sounds like his parents chose to repeatedly flout the junk food rule despite lots of warnings, and neither they nor the school would back down, so the school finally said "send your kids to a different school then."

/on the questionable assumption that you can believe anything you read in that rag

Anyone else read the headline as "Hampster expels 6-year-old boy" and get excited by some sort of bizarre fetish in the animal kingdom?

Anyone?

As far as I can tell, Church of England primary schools are religious but also public. "Acadamies" are private. A British person would have to tell us more.

HOW COULD HE HAVE ANY CUSTARD IF HE DON'T EAT HIS MEAT???!?!!

Anyone else like how the article kept emphasizing the "hypocrisy" of feeding children McDonald's and expelling a child for having junk food in his lunchbox all the while subtly glossing over, but technically including, the fact that he was expelled for a "row" regarding/"fallout over" the lunchbox contents?

And then, of course, slipping in that the parents had been told repeatedly about the rules, including in face to face meetings, and been insulting and abusive toward staff at the very end.

2014-02-17 11:06:37 PM
If you don't eat your fish, you can't have any McDonald's. How can you have any McDonald's if you don't eat your fish?

2014-02-17 11:07:52 PM
Careful there, this particular nanny state may well take the kids into protective custody to void the slow gastronomical death of said children,
.

  Food police! 1084 + 20 and counting..

Wait, how could a 6-year-old kid afford to bring in enough fish fingers for 100 classmates?

2014-02-17 11:11:07 PM
Only 100 and just fish. I remember hearing about crowds of thousands and loaves and fishes were involved. So much for a Church of England education these days. Back in the day, this guy looks like he could knock back the whole night's catch all by himself.

The kid probably chose cake one too many times.  Sometimes they just run out.

Whales, being mammals, actually have the boned for five fingers inside of their fins.

'If we are faced with a situation where a parent threatens to send a pupil into school with insufficient food to sustain them throughout the school day, it is a risk we simply cannot afford to happen.'

Send 'em home without an education! That'll teach 'em!

Most likely a hybrid.

They get state money from the crown, but have all/most of the say with little interference from the state.

I dunno, I'm surprised the 6-year-old wasn't expelled for feeding 100 kids McD's fish sticks. Seems like that would be the larger breech of school policy.

'The school was broken into last year and as a result we were unable to use the school kitchen that day.
'We were faced with trying to source approximately 100 hot lunches for our pupils at very short notice. The school opted for fish finger meals from McDonald's.

The fail doing what it does best.. kid's parents were warned... mini cheddars vs fish fingers is non-food vs bad food, but still actual food...

OUTRAGEtards failing at parenting..

2014-02-17 11:48:20 PM
In this case they really expelled the parents not the children. Parents who use their children to make a point in arguments with other adults are shiats.

Probably about the same as the number of sticks they have.

Were the fish fingers in pies?

meanwhile, back in Penny Lane...

This. They weren't expelling a 6-year-old, they were expelling the 6-year-olds problem parents. Good riddance.

It was rhetorical!

A Farty McPooPants and a Panty Sniffer in the same room . might . be . a . bit . awkward.
