Wow, what an absolutely accurate headline. This is along the lines of the guy who murdered his parents throwing himself on the mercy of the court because he's now an orphan. "Revealing the essential corruption and cupidity of the Republican Party could have an adverse effect on the coming election."

Jeesh.

The only thing that is going to hurt NY Republicans in 2014 is if they voted for the NY SAFE Act.

And it's going to hurt them because normally reliable party voters will say "fark you" and stay home.

Adequate production of testosterone is often correlated with an increase in jaw mass during puberty. Some theorize that if you don't get enough of it, you end up without a chin. This explains both Republicans and Russian figure skaters.

Nothing that would give an Independent a reason to believe that both sides are not exactly equally as bad can be allowed to occur. Apparently BSAB has, while I wasn't looking, graduated from "meme the Internet uses to mock the GOP" to "something GOP official state in all apparent seriousness." And that's terrifying.

Vincent Tabone, former vice chair of the Queens Republican Party who is accused of allegedly accepting a $25,000 bribe to allow a Democratic state senator to run for mayor as a Republican, has requested that his June 2 trial be rescheduled for December or later.

Ummmm...political parties are not government branches/agencies.  The Vice Chair of the Queens Republican Party is not a government position.  A political party can allow anyone they want to use their label for any reason they want.

Why do I get the feeling the article is critically lacking on information regarding the criminal acts that actually occurred here?

They are not engaged in a reasonable discussion of policy. They are the tools of a well designed marketing campaign run on behalf of gun manufacturers.

So just remember that you're trying to talk to people who have been fooled by a marketing plan. Not our brightest.

They are essentially the same case: Democrat is on trial for trying to bribe his way into an election, wants the trial to be held off until he finishes a different election because it could unfairly prejudice voters to hear about his charges and potential conviction. Republican is on trial for trying to accept the bribes in question, wants the trial to be held off because if he has his trial now and the Democrat doesn't it will lead to bad press only hitting Republicans in the weeks leading up to the election.

AKA, both guys should be on trial ASAP, but both are saying there should be a delay in case the other case is delayed.

As long as he remains in custody (flight risk) until the trial, you can delay it as long as you like.

It's only 8 1/2 months until the election.  If they can drag out the process a little while longer, it'll end up scheduled after the election anyhow. Which I'm sure is the real plan here.
