I'm convinced the only reason most people like Starbucks is all the sugar you have to put in to make drinkable.

I'm cream only.  And I still like it.

I like McD's coffee better too. I still have an extensive prep at home to make it just how I like it, but its pretty good and packs a punch.

For home grind I prefer a medium Caribou, but lately the spouse has been bringing home the Veranda Blonde.

McDonald's sells as pleasantly drinkable cup of coffee at a reasonable price, not charred swill for sugary milk drinks at ridiculously inflated prices.

At one point, Mr. Kovacevic had a connection who could hook him up with Starbucks drinks. But that friend is now working on the other side of the Olympic Park, leaving Mr. Kovacevic to walk around with an empty green and white cup. He pours vending machine coffee into it.

Well if that isn't the epitome of white people problems, I don't know what is.

I like the shaken iced tea - black.

The. last few cups of coffee I've gotten from Starbucks didn't have that burnt ass taste to them, which is making me think that maybe they're changing their roasting method method.  Or maybe I'm ust used to it now.

I'm drinking some medium roast, washed, red burboun from Guatemala.  I stopped buying anything from Starbucks when they stopped selling good beans.

I drink McDonalds coffee any time I'm out and I love it but the willow blend Starbucks coffee is not bad at all for use at home.

I'm glad I like McD's coffee too because my grandparents go out every single day for the coffee and muffin deal at McDonald's since the coffee and muffin deal doesn't cost much more than just the coffee or just the muffin they never use their free coffee cards.  They fill two cards a week.  Every time I visit, my grandmother has a huge stack of free coffee cards for me.

The last time I made the mistake of getting Starbucks coffee, I poured what seemed like half a cup of sugar in there and it was STILL undrinkable. Bleh!

That being said, I'm partial to their various (calorie laden) fancy drinks and teas and such. It's only the plain old coffee that's utterly revolting.

This.

I stayed at the Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas a few years back and they've got a Starbucks on the ground floor.  After a night of hard drinking I went to the Starbucks to get a cup of coffee to help wake me up.  The guy at the counter gave me a strange look when I ordered a plain black coffee rather than some weird concoction with a dozen ingredients.

I'll pick some up at the local grocery store when it's on sale.  Sumatra's pretty good.

/I also like Dunkin Donuts and McDonald's coffee so a connoisseur I am not.

They're coverage has been crap.  Every time I try to watch it's been speed skating.  And it doesn't come on until 8pm.  Can't we bump Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune for a couple weeks, show some interesting events?

I know there's a time difference, but I remember past coverage on the far side of the world being better.

In Vegas, McDonalds is the saving grace for saving money.  For $3 you can get a coffee, sausage sandwich, and a hash brown.  Outside of them, that's about $10.

2014-02-17 10:25:06 AM
Some of my favorite coffee is cheap but done *well* diner coffee.  I only drink black (because the whole damn point is to get more caffeine in me, no?), but there's a place by my parents house that has strong coffee and real cream for motherf--king 39 cents a cup last I checked.  God I love it.

Failing that, McDonalds is fine.  Starbucks is crap, but if I'm in the mood to drink a dessert in a classy setting it's there for that.  All the Paneras over here seem to have really weak coffee... so I always kind of feel ripped off.  Even at the pick your own price/donation Panera, which I really shouldn't feel ripped off at.  (Shrug).

2014-02-17 10:25:49 AM
I used to find Starbucks black coffee revolting, until I discovered that you can ask them to brew it pour-over or french press for you when you order. Now, on the rare occasion that I go to Starbucks, I'll order a pour-over Pike Place. Definitely worth the wait, and no sugar is needed.

I prefer Dunkin' over Starbucks, though. And above all, I prefer my own home-roasted beans.

2014-02-17 10:27:17 AM
We've got excellent roasters in Dallas and in Austin.  It's kind of nice, because they label the variety of the bean, the process, and the roast.  There's a huge aspect of drinking straight coffee that Starbucks is missing out on by not having the specialty beans, and over roasting them.  Even their blonde roast is oil and gross.

Me, too. For *$, my current favorite is Komodo Dragon. But I will buy whatever decent coffee is on sale at the grocery store.

I find that I need to change up every once in awhile

Coffee is revolting without cream and sugar.  LOTS of cream and sugar.

I don't care what kind of coffee it is.  It still needs cream and sugar.

Remember, the lighter the roast, the higher the caffeine content.
When Starfarks scorches the poop out of that coffee, you're getting gypped a second time beyond the deep dark roast beans.

I feel like I've seen everything but speed skating.  I'd like to see some speed skating. So far the only thing I've seen that I've liked is biathlon.  Everything else was either curling or a judged competition. I prefer to watch timed competitions or team sports other than curling.
It seems like NBC would do a lot better if they broke down each olympics block into 30 minute chunks with one sport each.  Right now you just turn it on and have no idea what you're going to get.

It's an acquired taste.  The first time I drank beer I thought it was disgusting.  Now it's something that I enjoy a lot.

NBC's Olympic coverage always sucks, but this year seems suckier than usual. Except for Johnny Weir and his fabulously gay outfits.

What's the problem with the app? Works great for me.

It had to truly bite for Emily Scott, knowing that every time she got to the starting line, the NBC crew wasn't talking about her stamina advantage from inline, but how her mom was in prison for meth trafficking and Emily had to live on food stamps before the Olympics.
