I don't see what so terrible; death isn't the career obstacle it used to be.

Inconsolable.

Subby clearly doesn't know the difference between "showrunner" and "director"

He would have been fine, but he fell down the up escalator. Took him hours to reach the bottom.

Moffatt will reveal that he survived the fall, but you have to wait a year for the three-episode season.

Believe it or not, Chris Barrie and Robert Picardo once met at a convention, and exchanged hologram autographs.

One of my personal top 10 episodes.  Condo, the freaky sisters, the mad doctor, and Morbius himself.

Back in the mid 90's, Craig Charles and Robert Llewellyn hosted a Red Dwarf marathon on one of the local PBS stations in the Bay Area (KTEH, I believe). There was some viewer questions and a young kid asked 'Who would win in a fight between Kryten and Data?' Robert Llewellyn replied: "Oh, Data would. Kryten would just stand there and say 'I'm sorry, Mr. Data, sir, but my head seems to be repeatedly impacting on your fist.'"

I think Trek's Doctor wins the battle, if only because he got to play with 36D of 9.

Though Ace Rimmer did have Mellie covered in maple syrup.

Let's just call it a tie.

/and where's season XI?

//As for the article, sad to see a classic Who director gone. He was one of the few to direct the first four Doctors. Don't know why JNT didn't use him later on.

TFA: "Barry worked on Doctor Who, Z-Cards, The Onedin Line, All Creature Great and Small, and The Tripods."

I don't know what Z-Cards is, but I bet it's cheesier than Z-Cars.

Because JNT was a prat who pissed off who used to work on the show by deciding to do absolutely everything differently.
Praise him for promoting the show; but excoriate him for ruining the content

I was going to post "OK fess up: how many of you were hoping it was Moffat?". I guess now I don't have to.

DOCTOR Who.

(Couldn't find a YouTube of that scene with Matt Smith saying "DOC! TOR! WHO!!" while jumping around the tardis)

He didn't want to go.

Yeah, not a showrunner, subby. Still sad, though. All those veterans from the show's beginning are leaving us. :(

"Showrunner" is a dumbass title invented by Hollywood when they realized that ego-stroking title inflation had run rampant.

In the rest of the world, we'd call the person in overall charge of something the 'director' or the 'manager', but one of those refers to the guy who yells 'cut!' and the other is the smarmy guy who lunches at Sardi's and takes 10% of the actors' paychecks.  'Producer' would work fine, if not for that pesky title inflation thing.

88 years old and still getting on escalators? That was a bold man...or his eyesight was failing.

If by "running it into the ground", you mean, "growing the fanbase to become the largest its ever been while improving the quality of the show", than yes.

Seriously, go back and watch old Who. There's a lot of good stuff, sure, but there's a lot of bad acting, stupid stories, and really awful effects as well. Watch the Davies version. Plenty of good stuff there, but then watch the concrete blowjob episode. Watch Fear Her. Now watch the 50th anniversary special.

Yeah, that Moffat is sure awful. *rolls eyes*.

Moffat is a misogynistic ass-clown, a really shiatty writer, and an arrogant douche-nozzle.  But because there were two episodes prior to his run that sucked, we're supposed to think he doesn't spew shiat every time he puts pen to paper?  My cat writes a better episode of Doctor Who than Moffat every time she uses the litterbox.

Maybe they thought he was Adric.

/Christ, can we quit with the whole "Moffat is running this show into the ground"? You're just gonna hate the next guy even more and you know it. Whiners.

He runs Sherlock, too. I happen to love that show.
