Don't worry, hipsters have a good understanding of history. It was just a TV, you probably never heard of.

I'm more surprised there was more than one 1905. Never learned that in school. Thanks Obama.

1905s. I guess it's plural.

They hadn't perfected calendars yet, so there were a couple of them.  Don't even ask about the 1800's, that century seemed to go on forever.

1905 BCE and 1905 CE? So the Egyptians had televisions long before they had electricity and steel? I wonder what King Tut's favorite show was.
Saturday Night Live, of course.

Every possible sitcom plot was invented by two shows: I love Lucy and The Honeymooners. By the time of The Flintstones in 1960, they were all being reused by every sitcom on TV. The Flintstones was the first show to show a man and wife sleeping in the same bed rather than twin beds. That was when pornography began to replace TV.

I like my own version of reality better than the false consensual reality you get from Fox News and CNN.

A 1929 TV. Nobody ever saw anything on this screen.

They just imagined it. It was literally "radio with pictures".

Pictures in your mind.

Here's proof that the TV evolved from the Franklin stove:

img.fark.net

Mug included to show that it could warm a pot of coffee or tea.

Later TVs were much larger and could cook TV dinners as swiftly as a Pontiac.

They could also sterilize young boys from up to six feet away.

This jpg has the longest name in the history of the world. I think it may be malware or created by a hipster.

Here we go with the "disability" crap.  "Don't criticize me or I'll go to the EEO!"

/ Mildly dyslexic myself.
// Plus, I have dysgraphia.  Even I can't read my writing.

I'm dyslexic myself. If it weren't for spellcheck I would type like most people butt dial.

/it was a mistake I could have easily made. Just sayin.

Too small, it's supposed to be a large and imposing piece, like what it is trying to be.

Would be better IMHO in a 1940's style cabinet where the screen is tiny compared to the cabinet.

Oh, maybe it's ironic....

DarkSoulNoHope: Apparently no one can call themselves "retro" like this guy, at least not until he starts selling it. - The 'Dumont' isn't for sale but interested parties can contact Stephenson directly.

Don't worry Hipsters, I am sure one of you one day will sell out to Target or Best Buy with a similar design and make all your "retro television" dreams a reality!

You can buy the Beatles' "White" album on vinyl at Target now. I think they even may sell a turntable to play it on.

Some Farkers, in their obsession over the mythological beasts, hipsters, have fallen down that same sorry rat hole.

I feel like hipsters live their lives wildly swinging between deja vu and jamais vu and they exist in a deep state of confusion, depersonalization, and derealization, have no concept of linear time, and sometimes are not even aware of their location in space or time. All the while feeling uniquely, smugly awesome, knowing they are the exact center of the physical and metaphysical universe, sort of how I imagine God would exist.

Really, though, most of us are confused by your speech, actions, and rationalizations. So I just try to not make eye contact with hipsters.

Sometimes they think I'm one of them because I'm early 30s have a huge beard and long hair. But if I notice one eyeballing me, I check the time on my HTC One, and they are repelled by my unhip technology.
