Do you think Stenhouse knew what he was saying?

I'm betting he did.

Not to sound like Studman69, but she's not all that. As Bill Simmons would put it, she's press box hot.

Anyone else read that as 'Ricky Steamboat'?

Is NASCAR just going to keep screwing with their formula until nobody is watching at all?
Discuss.

FTFA: "I got hit by my boyfriend. What a bummer," Patrick said.

Danica's apparently working on connecting with the thousands of women whose blood runs cold after hearing their boyfriend's favorite racer ended up in a wall.

They've been doing that for 20 years, but it's really started to work well in the last 5 or 6.

If she was sitting still in the middle of a race then it's no wonder she got drilled.

Instead of fixing the on-track competition, it's easier to change the points system and proclaim it "more exciting." Then you just hope that somehow people decide that a manufactured championship battle will be more fun than watching football.

The constant meddling and changing is getting to me, too, though it's not the reason I don't watch many races on TV (too many things going on on Sundays, no one else to watch with, and convenience of watching a stream). I feel like it's a blow to the sport's legitimacy when we have to change the championship format every few years to keep it fresh and exciting. Somehow, the stick-and-ball sports have been fine with their playoff-and-championship systems. Sometimes you get a great battle to the finish, sometimes you get a blowout. That's the risk.

And NASCAR doesn't have much left in the legitimacy bank to work with.

I've said it before; most of my friends are car nuts. None like NASCAR. The reasons are varied: lack of modern technology (or stuff that could be extrapolated to street car technology), lack of road courses, or just a lack of interest in watching cars race against each other for two or three hours. Come to think of it, none of my friends like IndyCar or F1, either. For them, it's WRC or sports cars or MotoGP, but more likely, it's something they can participate in (autocross or rallycross).

If that's how people who like cars feel, how can you expect people who are generally apathetic about cars to feel? My folks aren't car people, but they remember the cool old cars they and their friends drove. In my generation, most of our girlfriends are fortunate to remember the color of a friend's car, never mind the manufacturer. Cars are commodity transportation, not the same method of self-expression they once were. It's going to take a lot more than manufactured drama to get them to tune into a NASCAR race.

But NASCAR's so fixated on courting new viewers that they'll use any gimmick they can to get more eyeballs on the TV.

She went low to avoid a huge wreck, caught too much of the grass and lost control. She had -just- saved it when Stenhouse hit her.

Your evidence is anecdotal at best. I require a more systematic examination.

There's this thing called Photoshop. This is an example of that. Nonetheless, she's certainly not ugly and if I saw her walking down the street, she would definitely catch my attention. This is the entertainment industry, however. She isn't being compared to anyone in NASCAR. She is being compared to the best looking in the world. She is not in their league.
