Now there's a guy I did not picture dying early.

Dying young appears to be a thing in the Henson family.

Well, when you have a family history of death, it really doesn't help your odds.

Hopefully they developed muppetry to a high art so they could serve as soul jars or horcruxes

Anyone else think those Muppets may be cursed?

fark. Dying runs in my family. Both sides. Is there some kind of test they can run?

I thought he was really good on "Talk Soup".

Dead 5 years younger than his dad, who died too soon himself. Terrible. RIP.

He can take The Muppets with him. As long as we have Jeff Dunham, we're all good.

That new Muppet movie must have been a lot of hard work. Everybody knows that working too hard will give you a heart attackackackack.  Billy Joel Rand Paul.

Muppet puppeteer John Henson, son of the legendary Jim Henson, has his strings cut at 48.

If only there were a portmanteau that simplified "muppet puppeteer".

His father was a workaholic who died of an untreated infection which wouldn't have killed him if he'd had it treated even a few days earlier.

I'm going to convince my family to transfer their souls into muppets. And I know just which ones deserve to be skesis.

Now John Henson.

Heart attack. The picture that went with the article was  a bit interesting. He looked easily 10 years older than his chronological age.

Wasn't Jim Henson a Christian scientist-against any medical procedure?

That sucks. I'm really sorry to hear that. And even sorrier to see that someone greenlit the story so that it would appear right next to a story about Billy Ray Cyrus' crotchfruit faking a blowjob on a fake Bill Clinton at a concert.

Just what I was here to wonder about. Jim died of bacterial pneumonia (which I contracted once, and was given a one-in-three chance of death myself); genetic predisposition to weakened immune systems? Sucks in any event.

pretty sure god's just trolling the oscar memorial at this point...  even if they've hit a cut off for the presentation, the last week or two has still seemed like "oh you thought i was done, did ya?  well fark you!"

That's actually a bit of a myth. He had largely left those beliefs behind. The infection he had was particularly nasty, and it was basically too late when symptoms appeared. He also rarely got sick, especially not that bad.

According to the Wikipedia article (I know, I know), Henson saw a doctor 3 days before his death who failed to diagnose pneumonia.  Several people, including his stepmother, said he stopped practicing Christian Science 15 years before his death so it didn't factor into whether he sought medical treatment, his wife (from whom he was separated) disagreed and said it still affected his thinking.

I wonder if he was shoveling snow.

He looks way puffier than his dad in that photo but who knows.

I'm mostly just chiming in so this thread might have a higher post count than the two inane Mikey threads next to it.

RIP Mr. Henson.
