Of course not, otherwise the regressives would not be trying to sabotage the United States out of spite.

GDISM, the GOP promised Death Panels and THIS is what we get??

This will just encourage people to be irresponsible with their hearts and constantly pick fights with Kano and that "Kali-Maaaaa" guy.

Now, everyone will want one.

Oh and jokes aside, killing this dude and others like him was the reason Republicans felt motivated to shut down the government and take the world economy hostage.

As soon as this guy recovers, he should go down to Ted Cruz's office and kick him square in the balls.

Ya know, at first, the idea that we should give American citizens health insurance WITH THEIR OWN MONEY instead of just giving it to Congress, was sorta a good one.
But now,,,
watching the GOP reaction just proves all to hell that it was the best farking idea of the past 50 years.

Now, finish the job and nationalize Pharma and put the criminals back on the street.
Nationalize the hospitals before Rick Scott does.
That Insurance Industry, tough nut.

We are headed in the right direction.

/ the lesson is actually pretty relevant; Obamacare didn't actually save this guy. It just made it impossible for insurance companies to refuse to insure him

Lot's of 'Headscratching' going on in the comments, of which this is my favorite:

grammysharon February 15, 2014 at 12:36 pm someone's life was saved. What's the problem with Obamacare? Is it Obama?

Well, DUH! A Democrat got what used to be the Holy Grail of 'Compassionate Conservative' health care reform passed, and somehow, someway it's the worst thing that's ever happened in the history of ever.

I'm pretty sure it was ravenous, racist citizens in the mold of Henry Ford who wiped out the Indians, stole their land, and raided their livestock. And the "government" that assisted most with that was President Andrew Jackson--a racist Southerner confederate. Not really an American.

FTFA: Anti-rejection medicine costs $4,000 a month and must be taken daily to keep the new heart.

This is the next hurdle to tackle. There has to be a better method for negotiating the cost of medications. A Single Payer system would be very helpful.

Granted; the guy is from Kansas; but, his doctor was probably across the river. There are a couple hospitals on the Kansas side; but, the majority of Kansas City is actually in Missouri, as you probably know.

An infection struck O'Dell's heart three years ago. He said before that, he was perfectly healthy and didn't think he needed health insurance. He says now, he knows differently.

I wonder who died so he could live?

So in the comments one dude writes this:

"This guy needed a new job that would provide coverage..not a handout from the rest of us."

So then the sister member of the guy who got the transplant responds:

"He had a job which he couldn't keep because of his health issues which began over 3 years ago. It took the doctors many months to diagnose his condition. He was young, healthy, working, supporting his family and not looking for any handouts from anyone. He got sick, lost his job, his insurance, etc etc. I am not a fan of Obamacare and do not wish to get into some sort of political debate with anyone. All I know is because of the new law my brother's life was saved, my niece and nephews have their father back and my parents did not lose a son."

So Obamacare literally saves her brother's life, but she's still not a fan of it. This is why America will never, ever have nice things that the rest of the first world has.

haywatchthis: needed insurance to pay for $4000 a month drugs not a heat transplant

No, he needed to see a f*cking doctor before his goddamn heart rotted out of his chest due to an infection.

2014-02-15 03:32:21 PM
Wait, am I reading this right that the guy initially got sick because he didn't have health insurance? As in, he chose not to have it because he didn't think he needed it? Then, when he needs it, "OMG! everyone is denying me coverage because I'm sick!" I'm glad the guy survived. Let this be a lesson for, at the least, catastrophic coverage.

2014-02-15 03:33:10 PM
it's nice having sort of universal coverage. it just sucks that the dmeocrats have become so corpocratic that we chose literally the worst possible way to do it immaginable which won't even slow down medical inlfation, which is the real reason we have a problem in first place.
I know, at least the dmeocrats care, about the shareholders.

Let us not forget this little gem:

FTA: An infection struck O'Dell's heart three years ago. He said before that, he was perfectly healthy and didn't think he needed health insurance. He says now, he knows differently.

The thinking goes, "I'm young, I'm healthy, I have no need for health insurance; that stuff's for the old people." Then the unthinkable happens. "But I'm young! I'm supposed to be immortal. . . ."

"While we could have done the transplant even without charging him, the medication he would never be able to afford," said Dr. Andrew Kao, his heart specialist.

It's yet another example of how full of shiat those who claim free care was already available just by going to the ER. No, it often is not. This guy would be dead without coverage.

organizmx: So in the comments one dude writes this:

"This guy needed a new job that would provide coverage..not a handout from the rest of us."

This country has far too many cold, cruel, inhumane pieces of shiat living in it. The guy probably goes to church and claims to follow Jesus too.

Obviously we should just let people die like the states that have refused to expand medicaid coverage that will almost entirely be paid for by the federal government. They're telling their own poor residents to fark off and die. It's what Jesus would do.

Well, the latest anti-ACA con is to tell young people that they are "being forced to subsidize" old people. The idea being that "old people" are "somebody else", because you, yourself will NEVER get old or sick.
At this point, you have to be pretty retarded to listen.
