Same here. The Top of the Pops clip, however, is hilarious. The Spandau Ballet fans in front of the stage who are trying to figure out how to dance to it are priceless.

Fark, that sucks. Love The Exploited (and Napalm Death, btw, since they were mentioned. Saw them live with Strapping Young Lad, Nile, Berserker and Dark Tranquility, kickass show). Hope he gets well soon and gets back to raging.

He's 57. Don't you think he should dial the rage-o-meter down a little bit?

No. He needs to double down and co-opt the new generation, although if anyone realizes the things punk railed against won then maybe it's a losing bet.

Nope. 57's about the usual age for Scots to have heart attacks (they have the highest rate of heart disease in Europe, after all), so he's about at par with alot of the population. Besides, look at Dick Cheney. Think all those heart attacks and a transplant ever slowed down his blithering rage?

There's this guy on same train I take during the week, must be about 50ish and always sporting some wild shades of mohawk.  I thought it was pretty cool to see an old guy who's still hard core punk, until one day he came aboard already wearing his Macdonalds uniform.  Just sad.

I was just thinking between the diet and habits and emotion, I often wonder how most of Scotland doesn't just explode upon reaching that age.

Meanwhile, Cock Sparrer's Colin McFaull is in his 60's and still runs around the stage like a farkin' 20 year old.

There are few shames greater than being 30 and feeling older that a 40 year old punk band belting out "What's It Like to Be Old"

(Though, in that video, he is rather subdued compared to when I saw them the same year)

This is about right as far as my family goes. My mother is Scottish. Both her brothers died in their early and mid 50s from assploding hearts.

My mother has had both a heart attackand a stroke and she's 65.

It is about this time, before I reach 40 that I better start putting a real dedication intj healthy living.

Nowadays when you're raging against "the establishment", it means your political side lost the last election. Alec Baldwin and Clint Eastwood ought to grow some old man mohawks and start having battles of the bands at local fairgrounds and nightclubs for some real hip-breakin'... er, hip-shakin' hilarity.

Seconded on both counts. Though "never cared for" is more "never paid much attention to" in my case -- they've managed to stay below my radar all these years except as a name. On a superficial level, at least, he reminds me of a guy who has apparently persisted on the scene in Houston all these years. Roughly the same age, giant mohawk, etc.
