Pretty much this.

I have yet to see a calorie-normalized comparison across different diets and their comparative efficiency in reducing weight (fat). I'd love to see a comparison between:

- the bodybuilding diet (40% protein, 30% carbohydrate, 30% fat)
- Atkins
- Paleo
- Weight Watchers

My guess is that there is no difference.

There are dozens of academic papers out comparing different diets from trials.
Atkins wins on a whole bunch of them.
But, only by a little.

WW also scores pretty well when compared to other diets.
I did WW years ago and lost 35lbs in about 5-6 months.  Loved it.  Went back a year or two ago and used their "new and improved" points system.  It was more complicated than the old one and I had trouble staying with it.  I regret throwing out the books / point stuff for the old plan as that one really worked.  I know others that feel the same way.
