Good Morning Sochi!

2014-02-15 12:02:47 AM
I will be watching falling asleep to GBR/KOR in women's curling.

2014-02-15 12:03:03 AM
No USA curling to start. Canada v Japan, Britain v South Korea, China v Sweden

Women's Super G is at 2am ET

2014-02-15 12:03:07 AM
The description for the upcoming Olympic programming on the channel guide says this on my TV: Men's skeleton competition gets underway with (some guy and some other guy).  Also: Men's skeleton.  I wonder who writes these things and how much they get paid.

Go America. Beat Russia. That is All.

2014-02-15 12:03:38 AM
It's Valentine's Day. My girlfriend is out of town. I'm one white Russian in. And Curling is on. LET'S DO THIS!

2014-02-15 12:03:57 AM
There can't be more than 200 people in that entire venue right now. Staff included.

Chupacabra Sandwich: Go America. Beat Russia. That is All.

Fark, I knew I forgot something in making the headline

/third night my live thread submission got greened
//after 3 straight redlit submissions

And fittingly for a Great Britain match, I have some Strongbow cider.

2014-02-15 12:07:48 AM
Britain and Korea were nice enough to color-code themselves to their rocks.

I have visited both, so I'm really getting a kick out of these responses.

Ha! I didn't notice that. Well that's easy.

2014-02-15 12:12:37 AM
I flipped over to Canada-Japan and the guy who called USA-Germany 24 hours ago is calling that one

2014-02-15 12:12:43 AM
Nice come-around by the Japanese

You literally cannot get any closer to the guard than that. Wow.

I literally submitted this 1 minute before it was greened. They're really on top of it.

I'm torn between that match, and GBR vs KOR.

When the Koreans shout "Hard" it sounds like someone is getting murdered. They really know how the screech.

Let's see how much of the inevitable they show.

2014-02-15 12:18:19 AM
Japan with a good shot, but Canada has a opening to get 2

2014-02-15 12:19:12 AM
Jennifer Jones doesn't miss. Canada 2-0 after 1

2014-02-15 12:19:16 AM
Canada uses first end hammer to good effect and takes two.  2-0 Canada

2014-02-15 12:20:50 AM
Happy hell-for-the-unloved day Farkers. LETS KICK RUSSIAS ARSE IN HOCKEY

I have so many pretend Olympic Girlfriends it's crazy.
I hope they don't find out about each other.

2014-02-15 12:32:41 AM
A miss a two rocks ago by Canada gives Japan a chance to draw for two.  They make it and we're tied at 2-2, Canada starts the 3rd end with the hammer.

All bobsled stuff starts Sunday

2014-02-15 12:35:40 AM
Nice end by the British, they take 3.  3-2 GBR after 2.

2014-02-15 12:37:07 AM

Polish Hussar: Nice end by the British, they take 3.  3-2 GBR after 2.

That part where they were trading knockouts until KOR messed up was awesome what with all the guards out.

2014-02-15 12:38:37 AM
Ha!  The CBC announcers are giving each other crap about jinxing the players by talking about how good they are right before a shot.

Ah, very good.  Thank you.

2014-02-15 12:41:10 AM
Canada and Japan have been trading missed shots (admittedly minor misses) for the last few rocks.

2014-02-15 12:41:17 AM
I'm definitely watching NBC...I clicked on one of the curling events, it took a few seconds to load and then I was able to watch a Coke commercial.

2014-02-15 12:43:08 AM
After trading four missed shots between them, Canada finally executes a shot the way they wanted to

2014-02-15 12:43:59 AM
But Japan apparently didn't get the memo and misses their 3rd in a row

2014-02-15 12:45:39 AM
Very interesting last rock for the Swedes, there are 4 or 5 rocks almost in a straight line in the house

2014-02-15 12:47:09 AM
And the Swedes are a little off and China ends up lying shot by an inch or two.  3-0 China.

2014-02-15 12:47:19 AM
SO SO SO glad the Belarus woman won Aerials.

She's competed in aerials since Nagano, and this is probably her last games.  Going out on top.

Measuring stick time in Canada/Japan

2014-02-15 12:50:01 AM
Measurement confirms that Canada was lying 2nd shot, Canada takes 2 and now leads Japan 4-2.

2014-02-15 12:52:28 AM
I missed a measurement?  DAMMIT!!!

2014-02-15 12:54:30 AM
Dude on NBC.  I think we know where Costas got his glasses from.

2014-02-15 12:55:09 AM

geom_00: I missed a measurement?  DAMMIT!!!

And they were using almost all of the stick.  The rocks they were measuring were on the outer edge of the red circle.

2014-02-15 12:55:42 AM
Ah yes, Johan Olaf Koss. i hate NBC treating the Olympics like a reality show, but in this guy's case I'll make an exception.

2014-02-15 12:59:30 AM
Nice job by the Japanese turning the over-curl into a better shot than they'd called

2014-02-15 01:01:08 AM
Oh, don't know if you guys heard, but Australia lodged a protest against the Russian skeleton team. Seems there's this practice starting track the Russians have near the course and they've been keeping it to themselves. According to Olympic regulations, all athletes must have access to all practice facilities on Olympic grounds.

The protest was denied because the practice track hadn't been sanctioned by the sport's governing body and therefore was not part of the field of play.

2014-02-15 01:02:02 AM
That Muirhead woman is really rather fetching.
