No way George Clooney is gay: if anything he's bi. I know a gal he plowed for a few weeks while working here in St. Louis on "Up in the Air". But don't be surprised if he goes to rehab for drinking: the dude is an epic block-out 7 day a week drunk. (Insert "That's the only thing to do in St. Louis." joke here.)

bim1154: ciberido: bim1154: Have to wonder how many of these women coming out are actually gay and not just doing it because it seems to be a fad.  It's a sad thing if they are using this for attention.

No, I really don't, but I do have to wonder what the hell is wrong with you that you think like this.

Like what?  Do you know how many celebrities jump on the "I'm a druggy/alcoholic/*choose subject" for attention when some actually don't have a problem at all and it's done for media attention?  I don't know anything about this person, could care less if she is gay, straight or what the fark.  If she is gay and coming out, I salute her, but if she is some immature twit who is doing this for media attention and she is not gay, then she's an insult to anyone who has actually struggled with coming out.  I question any celebrity who opens their mouth over some controversial issue... most tend to be media whores in some way or another.  Prove me wrong.

And that is exactly the problem: you cynically assume that people you don't know are selfish, calculating attention whores who do what they do not because they want to be open and honest about who they are, but because it might help them make a few more bucks and/or keep the spotlight on them another week.  And, of course, there are some people who are like that; nobody will deny it.  But that you assume most people you don't know are like this, and you jump to that conclusion when there are plenty of reasons to believe Ellen Page isn't that way, says a lot about how your mind works and what kind of person you are.

And your "Prove me wrong" ending really illustrates the problem in a nutshell: your "guilty until proven innocent" approach to life.

To put it simply: you like in an ugly, petty, sad world of your own imagining, and that suggests that you're a sad and petty person yourself.  Worse, in some small way you make the world around you --- the world the rest of us live in --- a very little bit sadder and uglier.

You really don't read so well. (or, alternatively, you have issues with determining what reality is)

He is pretty obviously stating that he doesn't know for sure.  Just stating it as one possibility, IF that's the case(as you yourself admit that there are people like that) that it's sad.

That's it.  All your ranting about his assumptions that others are that way are pure fabrications.  It's right there for you to read, you even quote it.

You do this constantly in damn near every thread I see you in.

frepnog: moogoob: Wow. The troll is strong with you

not trolling.  simply discussing.  YOU chose to take offense, not at why I said, but that you can't seriously dispute it.

moogoob: It's societal pressures - not science, not nature, not reality, but societal pressures that make up the disparity between men who experiment with men and women who experiment with same.

there is truth here, but no more so than saying "today, girls will do girls because porn has made it mainstream".  however no amount of societal pressure will give a man a boner if they just aren't inclined to get one, but stick a vibrator on a clit and you are probably going to end in orgasm regardless of who is holding the device.

moogoob: So to answer your question, yes, guys and girls do both turn me on. I, unlike your supposition, actually exist.

never said you didn't.  i asked you to perform an experiment and see what the results are.  I have a feeling that the results MIGHT just surprise you, much like the gay men that were surprised to find out in the study done that proved that straight girls sucked dick MUCH better than gay men.

Hehe. Was out mosta the day. Missed the rest of this.

Your point #1: That is exactly the type of thing a troll would say - state that the person is really angry with themselves. Just saying.
Your point #2: Maybe in today's modern western society. The ancient Greeks and modern pirates and prisoners would disagree with your assumption that men won't fark anything given the chance or necessity. The only reason prisoners (most of the time) wouldn't consider this before being locked up without women? The same societal pressures that keep the fully gay in the closet and pretending to be straight. If those were lifted like they currently are with women, you'd see considerably more guys just casually blowing each other.
Your point #3: Firstly, yeah I like many queer people as part of the coming out process DID do this experiment. That's why you bringing it up as a straight rather than bisexual person is moronic. How the fark did you think I figured out that I was bi? That's right. PORN. Then experimentation with others, but firstly teh pron.

Also, what study? You say there was a study done - that would be providing data to the argument. Link please!

Why do these threads on sexuality always turn to talk and comparison of gay and straight pornography? Is that all sexuality is to some people? What about dating, kissing, or just hanging out with a partner? You don't think that some of us like to do that stuff with other members of our own gender, too? It's not all just rimjobs and anal.

So what, this ^ never happened or it was all a sham?  Looking into a bit more, apparently most of it was rumors, but it still seems strange as they had been photographed together a lot.  She had been pictured with Leo as well whispering "sweet nothings" to each other.

Maybe she was using it as a front to not discourage discriminatory people from seeing her movies, or maybe she's bi and figured that saying "I'm bi" doesn't really have the same effect as going full blown gay.  Which is probably a true statement..

I thought she was dating Alexander, too. They seemed really into each other. Just ignore immature posters.

gay people are fine.  women are freaking awesome, I love having sex with them.

I said it earlier.  I have a bit of a problem with women that claim to be lesbian and then end up married to guys because it gives fuel to the fools that say gay people are not born that way, that being gay is a choice.

yeah, I don't like those people.

/What I really am is a conundrum, a fark liberal atheist that votes republican because while my views are often liberal, democrats are usually very wrong for the country and I will never forgive Tipper and her party for the censorship crap of the 80's.  Yes, republicans may not like your heavy metal, but they will fight to the death for your right to listen to it, while democrats court hollywood and the music industry but would love to pass laws that limit your right to consume the products those industries produce.

Oh, good lord -- you're one of those people? Tipper Gore blathering about and getting labels slapped on records 30 years ago is what to this day keeps you from voting Democrat? I haven't run across that posture here in quite some time. Way to fight the good fight.

But why, of all the other parties, would you vote Republican instead?  I could see voting Green or Libertarian but Republican--the party that's aligned with people who want to ban Harry Potter books because they think they're satanic and would censor cable/satellite TV and the internet if they had the chance?  And that's only the tip of the iceberg in terms of the damaging policies and stances the GOP's inflicted on this country over the last 30 years.

I'm not entirely convinced you're not a troll.

0/10. Democrats aren't the party of censorship, despite what some politician's wife did thirty years ago. Also, if you vote based on what partisans think about rock lyrics, you're either stupid, shallow, or troll. There are way more important issues.

Don't you have better things to do with your time than troll? All the censorship efforts these days are done by right-wing groups.

Who, after reading all 500+ posts, left with the same feeling as me? Feeling really, really sad about frepnog's wife? Because of 11 pages of comments, she was probably mentioned as much as Ellen Page. Poor poor stupid woman who just THOUGHT she was gay, until Frepnog realized she was too pretty for that bs, and slapped a ring on it. I hope she has a Fark account and can chime in. Call her over to computer and have her weigh in on discussion since she's being invoked every 5th post! I want to hear more about her conversion to the light! When did she realize she was too beautiful for all that and oops! mistake was made! Maybe one day Ellen Page will be stuck in an elevator with Bradley Cooper or Joseph Gordon Levitt and start to question everything that was said this momentous week.

Deal. EP is gay, big whoop. Lots of others were in past and will continue to be so. It will have no bearing on your marriage or any others (except Frepnog's--his wife might be succeptible.) But EP coming out is the same as NPH or any other. Did your wives run to the internet to argue about it on boards? That gay men were just faking it, because Clark Gable or Gary Cooper had several casting couch affairs, and wound up marrying women and having kids, they couldn't possibly have a nuanced life because too "handsome."*

*I understand am opening up can of worms with Clark Gable and Gary Cooper, but come on. Can debate sources but there are a lot of them about their early years in Hollywood. Sure it's probably par for course now.

Nope. The topic is pretty open and shut, though.

Sexuality is sex.  The "other stuff" he vaguely pointed to, even kissing, are frequently done among even platonic friends and family.  Because what is "dating" without the sexual part....it's called hanging out.  Non-sexual kissing is common among all cultures in the family, hell, in some places it's analogue to the handshake.

You can do all of those things with anyone, regardless of any sexual orientation(ideally at any rate).

Now, if you do all of those things with your sexual partner, they do take on a different meaning, all intimacy between those two is placed within the context of....sex.  why?  Because if it weren't for sex(or the potential for it), they'd be more simply friends.

Yeah, a dad can hold his daughter's hand, kiss her, take her to dinner, or hang out and watch movies.

It's only when those things are considered within the context of sex does it become something else.

Now, with that said, maybe the original poster, or you, would like to clarify a point.  Go right ahead and try to be relevant.

Lamadin: HotWingAgenda: DamnYankees: Now that I think about it - is she the most famous openly homosexual actor? Spacey and Foster are more famous, but aren't out of the closet (unless you count that weird speech Foster made).

I didn't know Kevin Spacey was gay. That puts American Beauty in a different light.

I thought Ellen Page was already out of the closet, though.

He's not. He's said in interviews multiple times he's not gay. Of course, some people will always speculate that he is.

I don't think Spacey is gay. I think society, as a whole, is so consumed with who is and who is not gay, that when a person refuses to discuss or flaunt their sexuality, they automatically assume they have 'gaydar' about the person. It really boils down to fear and gossip, and if you look at a lot of human behavior (especially in males), it's all about PROVING what you are and what you are not to other people - and that is fear based. It seems to me that he just doesn't care what other people think, and when you don't behave with fear-based actions like most people do, most others will automatically make assumptions.... It really says a lot about people in general - what they are consumed with mentally and what they are focused on.

Personally, I think the Universe has a sense of humor. Gays exist to shake up the deck, and because they do exist people have fears about them. There is no reason to fear what other people are or what they aren't - just focus on what YOU want, and ignore what other people think. Best way to function...
