There is no farking way in hell either of those men would have a fake "perfect utopia" that was anywhere other than the bridge of the Enterprise (of whatever flavor).

V'ger was short for Voyager. They found out at the end.

Suddenly you go into the energy ribbon, to find you're living in the most mind numbing and boring perfect world for yourself! Confusing world too, making you wonder if you're supposed to be in a house in France when it seems like an English family? Also how can it be so "perfect" when you still have your Starfleet uniform on, which means you, as well as the "perfect wife and the kids" will be having to re-board the Enterprise-D soon once shore leave is over and the fantasy Starfleet calls you back to duty. In fact the fantasy seems to want to kick you out, because in your fantasy for some odd reason it has exploding tree ornaments that resemble a star's supernova collapse!

The science is kind of advanced for Fox. Don't they believe that the earth is flat, 4000 years old, and the center of the universe?

Awesome!  My first greenlight!   And I get it on two of my passions, Star Trek and Astronomy.  It'll be interesting to see what ultimately comes of this discovery, as it seems as though scientists are still trying to piece together what this means.

And Generations was fairly disappointing.  I like the movie overall, but there was so little interaction between TOS and TNG, and the way Captain Kirk died never seemed right.

/Though given what Guinan said, it is likely an echo of Captain Kirk stayed in the Nexus too.
//Not sure if everyone would be any happier thinking of it that way.

AppleOptionEsc: TNG. Holy Quatlos, the first 2 seasons aged like milk.

True, but this series had "The Inner Light", which IMO was the single best episode of the entire franchise.

Voyager was the best out of the Star Trek series.

Red alert!  Red alert!

I liked Enterprise.  Seriously.  Especially Subcommander Cameltoe.

I enjoy all the Trek. It's much more enjoyable now that Netflix has all of them, so no need to buy a bucket of DVDs or go to a movie rental place.

If you are brave enough not to be an internet reactionary hyperbole expert, and watch them in a sort of 6 month marathon, all the Trek have the same amount of shiatty poopoo episodes that many evoke as the sole owner of ST:Voyager.

ToS is really not a show that aged with any grace. To use a poor analogy, just because the Model T was the first really awesome car, doesn't make it drivable on the Autobahn.

TNG. Holy Quatlos, the first 2 seasons aged like milk. I almost always skip many of those episodes. Also the most holy abuser of the Speed of Plot. Subspace messages can take a second or a week, but help is always there, until it isn't. And god forbid if you think the writers ever talked to each other. After the 3rd run through, I began to think Roddenberry was the first T.V. troll, as the rules change, sometimes just 5 episodes apart. Borg, technobable, politics, transporters. All just plot-hole ridden messes.

Voyager feels like the real successor to ToS. Actual exploring, recurring enemies didn't change rules mid season in mind boggling fashion. Help wasn't a telephone call away. It has many poo episodes, but like previously mentioned, no more than others. Also, the Year of Hell is, if not the best, one of the best stories ever in Trek.

DS9. Everyone's favorite. But I firmly believe if they didn't bring in Michael Dorn (Worf), DS9 would have flopped. Too many Ferengi episodes in the first 3 seasons. It's the embodiment of filler episodes. DS9 is probably sucessful because it isn't some super Noble Bright story. It's the Federation striving for it as a goal, but with believable enemies who aren't just Hitler evil (excepting the Kardassians. *sigh*).

I think Enterprise suffers from trying to combine too many aspect of all of Trek. DS9's evil empire theme, Voyager's forever lost in the Expanse, TNG happy friend time always working in the end. And too much time travel abuse. Still the Expanse season and, if you ignore the series finale, the last season was pure Trek.

TL;DR. Give peace a chance, and the ST series not being clones of ToS/TNG is a good thing.

If it turns out there's an energy barrier at the edge of the galaxy, everyone owes Gene Roddenberry a BIG apology.

Seriously. I can't take anything they report about science (or anything for that matter) seriously, when they continue to pay Mr. "You can't explain that".
