It's all part of their scheme to lure supermodels to the country, rape them, and then force them to marry the rapists as an alternative to prison sentences for sex outside of marriage.

They can't even install a septic system.
They poop in trucks from concrete treehouses.
They are jungle people living in concrete trees.
They have a me tarzan, you jane approach to sexual relations.
Yet, they want to be a fashion spot.
Real couture knows how to wipe its butt.
Real couture moves to were the water is.

I got nothing against any race.
Race is merely a social construct, anyway.

But having enough common sense to live where you can practice hygiene and treating your fellow human beings with respect, that has nothing to do with race. And nothing to do with the way people over there live.

Why would the fashion industry move to a place with restrictions on homosexuality and drugs?  Those are some of the primary components of that industry.

They are exactly the opposite.
they live in a desert.

I used jungle on a whim and chose a geography that is the polar opposite, and the only name I mentioned was Tar-Zan, a fictional White man.

Somehow that got construed as racist.

I don't have a problem with race.
I have a problem with savages.

People that run around chopping off other peoples heads, buying and selling people, tossing acid in other peoples faces. The nomadic new east. Salt of the desert. You know. Assholes.

Fashion's only truly necessary component is excessive discretionary wealth, which Dubai has in spades.

I'm going there in May....only because I have an overnight layover, and I really wanted to fly first class on Emirates.  (Took a shiatload of airline miles.)

Anyone have any travel tips/recommendations?  Unfortunately, I land at midnight and leave at 9AM the next morning.

I understand. And I agree. But using words like jungle, spear, porch, etc when describing a people is... well, you get it.

I don't know if it's all flights, but on my connection to Dulles in Dubai, they physically searched all carry ons.

Also, the airport is all kinds of confusing and the airport employees don't seem to know wtf they're talking about.

Great food though.

Our lay over was 5 hours from 9 pm to 2 am and that was about enough to find our way around and get something to eat.

I didn't say porch, and WTF does porch have to do with anything?
And I most certainly never said "Fashion's only truly necessary component is excessive discretionary wealth, which Dubai has in spades. " But no one said Boo to that guy.

Sounds like a lot of ado about nothing.
The people over there that make up laws bases upon their own insecurity as people and use a made up belief system to justify it are as backwards as a Texas Preacher.
Just as screwy. No excuse for it.
It's a lack of education and awareness.
Blissfully ignorant.
But savages, nonetheless.

No room on the planet for them.
It's getting down to lifeboat ethics, and throwing on the cloak of haute couture as if to disguise their savagery is akin to wearing a three pieced suit to a courtroom when you're a slob, and a murderer. You're only trying to sway the easily fooled.

No sir, They are less than what a human can achieve for themselves and for society as a whole, and I don't like it. Not one bit.

Interesting article.  Thank you.

That echoes the sentiments of the people I know who work there.  They money is good -- 2X or 3X or more what they'd make in New York, LA, London or Toronto -- but they're mostly getting tired of living in a theocratic dictatorship regardless of how benign the dictatorship likes to portray itself.  Everyone seems to know one or two horror stories of expats caught in Kafkaesque circumstances and they all have a vague worry in the backs of their minds that they are just as vulnerable.

According to McMafia, Dubai (along with Israel) has become a world headquarters for organized crime - there aren't necessarily a huge number of rackets running in Dubai but many global rackets are run from there.
