"damage done to traditional marriage"

Yeah, so my fiancee and I are planning on getting married in a month and you know what? Not a SINGLE gay or lesbian has come up to us and said, "You can't get married to each other because you're heterosexual, marriage equality means only homosexual marriages are allowed." The only damage I can see gay marriage doing to 'traditional' marriage would be if the people stuck in crappy 'traditional' marriages see how happy some of the married gays are and wonder why they're still putting up with his/her shiat...

Does Cruz mean pagan traditional marriage or Christian traditional? Because pagan marriage traditions predate Christianity by quite a long period of time.

"We need to stand up and defend traditional marriage and especially do everything we can to prevent the federal government from forcing a different definition of marriage that is contrary to the views to the citizens of each state," he said.

So then he supports state's being able to ban interracial marriage then?

Freshman Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) said in a radio interview Thursday that his "heart weeps" over the advance of same-sex marriage rights in the U.S. and vowed to do everything in his power to stop it.

That's nice, but he is powerless to stop social change.  All he can do is drag things out for a few more years.

Dear anyone,

Please point out where in the Bible Jesus said anything about homosexuality.

Not Levitican law.
Not Paul's letters.

Jesus.

Jesus never wrote anything in the Bible. In fact they shouldn't even call themselves Christians. They believe the hearsay of what Paul said he said, and Paul's interpretation of what he says that he said. They should call themselves Paulstians.

So Ted, can you tell us exactly how your marriage to your lovely wife, Heidi, has been damaged or lessened because gays are getting married in some places? Please, spare us no details, we would like to know exactly what the problem is, so we can better undestand your position.

Are you not having as much sex as you used to? Do you and/or your wife feel that your marriage is now "pointless" or perhaps "ordinary"? Do the two of you spend long nights on the couch, pretending to watch some show neither of you really care about, basting in silence because the excitement and joy you used to get from spending time together is no longer present? Do you often find yourself fantasizing about what your life would be like if she were not around?

Please, Ted, be honest with us. Help us understand the pain that gay marriage makes you feel.

Lets see what Jesus said ...

"When they kept on questioning him, he straightened up and said to them, 'Let any one of you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her.'" -- John 8:7

"'Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.'" -- Matthew 7:1-3

Hmmm ...

None of these could possibly speak of "homosexuality". The concept had not been invented yet. There were acts of sex between same sex partners but no person was categorized as a gay or homosexual being until the nineteenth century.

If someone's heart is weeping because of the ability for two consenting adult citizens to seek a special legal status in regards to each other is being extended to more pairs of consenting adult citizens...

...That heart needs a serious realignment of things that matter in this world.  Restricting who can file paperwork is a silly thing to have such a reaction to.

Dear zarberg,

People that base their political beliefs on the Bible abandoned things like logical argument and reason long ago. Arguing scripture with these people not only serves about as much purpose as debating a rock, but also lends legitimacy to the "because Jesus said so" position by assuming it merits some sort of response.

Sincerely,

the internet

Even then, Jesus never mentions sexy-time between same-gendered people..  he does go on quite a bit about greedy rich assholes, though....

She needed to get down to improved bubble to be able to avoid the pregnancy debuff.  The cost if it ticks down is nasty, and the cleanse isn't much better of an option.

The fact that our system of government doesn't provide for a way to have Ted Cruz executed for treason is a major structural weakness.
