Isn't the IRL even worse than NASCAR when it comes to "the good cars are good, the bad cars are REALLY REALLY BAD, and there's no inbetween"? I'm just looking at her old IRL team, and the only driver who did anything with their cars was Tony Kanaan, and even he only got a couple of podiums (plus an Indy win).

Also, if you look at Di Silvestro's results, she did pretty well on road courses, generally finishing top 10. It was ovals where she sucked, and I don't think there are many of those on the F1 circuit.

Simona's a better driver than her cars allowed in Indy. She was anchored with the Lotus (hamster power!) for longer than anyone else.

The fact is, Indycar isn't near as bad as NASCAR when it comes to the good car/bad car=finish place. They had a far greater diversity of winners the last two years. Much better racing too.

At least she's not signed for one of the true back markers in F1. Sauber isn't great, but she may score some points... If she ever gets the ride.

Well said.
There's no doubting her talent, much better than Danica Patrick ever was.

Is she really better than Danica?  I haven't watched Indy in years, I hope she does well in F1.  That series gets even more boring than NASCAR.  Those races turn into a parade after one lap, even if they are turning left AND right.

Give it a try this year. Best racing around.

If she watched TV on Thanksgiving and New Year's and noted how the floats all follow one another she should do just fine in F1.

But Simona had 65 starts at Indy with no wins and no poles.  But she did finish 13th in points in 2013.
Danica started 114 Indy races and got 1 win 3 poles and 69 top 10 finishes in about 7 years.
Milka's Indy "career" 4 years, 43 races and no nothings.

F1 or Indy?  I loved F1 when Prost , Senna, and Mansell were racing.  Rally, too.  Rally racing scares the crap outta me, but the in car cameras provide plenty of suspense.

Sorry. Indycar. F1 has been a parade as of late, but new car regulations.... who knows. The last couple years in Indy has been freaking great. NBC Sports has had really good coverage... I know, hard to believe during the Olympics, but it's true. The racing has been fantastic.

speaking of F1, has there been any update on Schumi lately?  I hope he's getting better.

At this point no news is good news, last story I read today is they are slowly waking him up but that is about all it said.

Pray for Schumi !

They started easing the sedation to bring him out of the medically induced coma a couple weeks ago.  Apparently this is a very gradual process so he isn't out of it yet.  I also remember seeing a rumor that he'd contracted pneumonia, but I don't know if that was ever officially confirmed.  SkySports has collected the last few official updates at the bottom of the article whose URL I'm pasting at the bottom of the post because Fark doesn't like it for some reason.

Hope it works out for her; she's a talented girl and she deserves a better situation than what she's had so far in her career.

During her time in IndyCar she was saddled with bad equipment and never had a teammate, until she finally got paired up with Kanaan at KV last season. Unfortunately that wasn't a true teammate scenario because her engineers came in and refused to cooperate with the existing KV technical staff, essentially stranding her on a one-car island in what was supposed to be a two-car team.

She's got a great personality and attitude, and most of the physical and mental skills as well. She'd still be in IndyCar if her backers weren't parasites and her engineers weren't stubborn assholes.

After reading that, I am gaining hope that Schumi is going to be able to pull out of his illness.  This is not the way I want to see one of the greatest (if not THE greatest) F1 drivers recover from a serious crash.  This is a guy, who put a taxi driver in the backseat in order to get to the airport on time....and he did it with simplicity and tact, just talent and coordination.  The type who can get in a car, and figure out its strengths/weaknesses at the drop of a hat.  More power to him.
