The senator is as dumb as bricks. Standard construction contracts typically do not include FF&E. Typically you get what is considered permanent elements.

Furniture typically is by additional contracts, through dealers or direct from the manufacturer.

This is what happens when you put people in charge of development projects that dont know how construction works. Same with having elderly 70 y/o senators and other electeds making policy on things like internet usage. They are making decisions about things they have no clue about.

DarkVader: mjones71822: 18k doesn't seem to bad per room. Hospital beds, IV pumps, chairs etc.

It's a mental hospital.  It doesn't need motorized hospital beds or IV pumps.  You can put in chairs from Big Lots.

No, you need furniture that is very very heavy (ie hard to throw), very durable, won't splinter easily, and is difficult to modify or difficult to modify effectively.  Psych patients can be Mcgyvers when it comes to hurting themselves/others or hiding contraband.

Once when tossing a room I found a single grain of rice that a patient had taken from the lunchroom and dried so they could use it to cut themselves.  Big Lots furniture would be artillery.

Seriously, how much does it cost to furnish a mental hospital?
