What does Golden Sacks dealing in yellow cake have to do with class warfare?

Both banks putting uranium desks up for sale

Because solid-gold desks are for drug dealers and rappers.

"In the last four years, the banks have amassed low-grade stockpiles"

As opposed to high grade stockpiles?

In other news, enriched uranium costs less than $100 a pound.

2014-02-14 09:51:36 AM
Well, I learned something new today. I thought I remembered some UN resolution at some point that was supposed to keep this from happening, but it was probably something that I read that said it might have been a good idea to do it instead.

Because the banks want to nuke people who owe them money? Or are we talking about a nuclear deterrent to civil uprising?

HotIgneous Intruder: What does Golden Sacks dealing in yellow cake have to do with class warfare?

The "let them eat cake" attitude got a few heads chopped off during the French Revolution. It shows their complete lack of understanding of how ordinary people live, struggling to find bread.

i was in the model united nations as a child, and unless you're one of the 5 super powers, you're not even allowed to use words like must, shall, or require.  all you can say in a resolution is should, may, or we recommend.  and since at least one of the super powers will always disagree with the others, that pretty much means, the UN can't say things like "require" very frequently.

i know nothing about nuclear materials and international law, but it is more likely that the international community developed a treaty that some countries signed.  in a treaty, you can pretty much do whatever, since the each country decides for itself whether to follow the rule, it's not forced down their throat by some international body.

Isn't it that "class warfare" hit a new level some years ago, and now it's threatening to come down a notch?

I don't know why they call it yellowcake.  It doesn't taste anything like cake.

Yeah, this was the alarming bit. 200 million for enough yellow cake to make 200 bombs. Seems a paltry sum for so much destruction.

So Golden Sacks is the equivalent of Israel's crazy survivalist Uncle Rupert who lives in the cabin in Montana.

Awwwww you're cute.
You think the UN controls the banks.
It's the other way around sweetie.
The UN controls nothing actually. They are an impotent organization.

You do realized that with enriched uranium, they remove the vital nutrients with the uranium germ and uranium bran, and then spray on some niacin and riboflavin.  That's why I insist on whole uranium for my yellow cake.

"Golden Sacks." "Golden Sacks." "Golden Sacks."

Is everyone's autocorrect going insane, or is it a joke I'm not getting (aside from calling the bankers "golden sacks [of testicles]?"

/It's Goldman Sachs

The US DOE will buy it all, but at $1500/lb because that's what the new price will be once the bidding begins.

Well, the enrichment facility is the hard part.  Raw yellowcake is about as useful for making a bomb as raw yellow cake.

Well, I don't see why the uranium is just sitting around waiting to be enriched.  If it wants to make a hit, it needs to get out its bootstraps and not wait for handouts and socialist 'wealth redistribution'.

Saying it is hitting "a whole new level" when the companies involved want to stop trading uranium seems weird.  Isn't this bringing it down to a previous level?

Didn't we bomb and invade someone over yellowcake?  I forget where we stand on that.

I think the fear angle is that they are presumably looking to offload their supply to someone.

If it's not in the hands of large, capitalist entities with a future dependent upon at least some level of stability, then it will be in the hands of someone else.

As a man of advancing years with no kids, I've already come to terms with my own mortality and find the craziness in the world to be quite interesting to watch.

No company gets that large without government help. So much government cheese going though Wall Street, it's going to bankrupt the country.  Well, that and the entitlement programs.

Consider in 20 years there will be 2 taxpayers per retiree (in the 50s there was 15 taxpayers or so). The taxes paid by two average tax payers is not enough to pay one retiree's SSI (SS been insolvent since 2010) and Medicare.  Not leaving anythingto pay debt service on the national debt, education, defense, et al.  So what does the government do? They continue to hemorrhage money into the corporate coffers and new entitlement programs adding over 1 trillion dollars per debt per year to the nation debt.  Some people are gonna be doomed when expected entitlements are dust. Either the government will cut back when it's loans dry up or they'll print money which will evaporate in inflation.

uber humper: Doktor_Zhivago: SMALL GOVERNMENT

NO REGULATION

What's that supposed to mean?

What this means is that nearly 15 years ago there was some financial deregulation, the result of nearly 2 decades of pressure on politicians under the guise of being able to compete internationally.  In that deregulation was a small piece that allowed banks to get in to lines of business that historically was off limits for reasons such as conflict of interest, potential for corruption, and a slew of other reasons.

The linked article is the result.  A bank owns a business, amazingly something that is sensitive to national security, tries to manipulate the market by purposely rigging the supply chain, then will likely sell their control indiscriminately.

Doctor Zhivago's comment appears to mock zealots of less regulation.
