This is why my beluga whale never cleans the litter box.

Toxoplasmosis is also a problem in the waters off California.

The Toxoplasma life cycle depends on cats. It will not propagate in the ocean. Exterminating cats in communities near the ocean would end contamination and the disease would fade out over time. The residual contamination from other Felidae would be no greater than what marine life evolved with.

Great. It's bad enough that the parasites make me go "Kitty!". Now they're going to make me go "Whaley!" too. I should start stocking up on stock whale photos and cute whale videos, get ahead of the curve.

That's why I trained my cats to shiat in the neighbor's yard

Pregnant women are often warned to avoid changing kitty litter in order to stay clear of the parasite, Toxoplasma gondii.  In other news, my wife has been pregnant for 8 years.

Well its either us or the cats.

If you let an animal piss and crap inside your home, you are an animal.  Kitty litter, puppy pee pads, and other euphemistically named devices are putrid harbors of nastiness.

Put the cat out.

Why?  Is it on fire?

2014-02-14 02:14:19 PM
How do they know the parasite came from cat litter, and not, say, husky litter? Seems like it would be more likely in that area.

/watch out where they go
//got me just about as evil as an eskimo boy-child could be

I read that as "clitty litter."

Why flush what you can dump over your neighbor's fence when their dog, child, or spouse won't shut-up?

What a lazy indolent laze-ophile sack of smug ungrateful lazy blubber.

Our cat (Flounder) will use the litter box but he prefers to poop outside. Even at 10 below that little farker will go outside and try to make it happen.

Worst litter box I have seen was on one of those hoarder shows. This lady actually filled a kiddy pool (in her house) with cat litter so she would not have to change it. Disgusting.

Well, cats are parasites so its not surprising.

Anyway...about the story...

I think it's just that beluga whales find cats delicious.

So it is just a matter of time then until crazed whales with mind controlling parasites are roaming Cananian beaches?

So much this.

There is no such thing as "community cats".  Ferals are an invasive, non-native species and the only cure is extermination.

The world's a dangerous place for outdoor cats. They get shot, run over, tortured, infected with disease, and badly wounded in fights. I'll keep mine indoors, thank you. And I don't flush the damned litter, I put it in the trash, so you can look for the source of Mad Whale Disease elsewhere.

Did I miss something? Where, in the article, does it mention flushable kitty litter?
What's the correlation of whales and cat crap? Isn't there somewhere else this parasite can come from?

I know, too many questions and it's Friday afternoon and I haven't had my vodak yet.

When I was about eight I got cat-scratch fever.  Hived up from ankle to forehead, couldn't breathe, and my lips swelled to about three times their normal size.  CSB

Cats are toxic, especially what's under their nails.

I also hear they steal breath from babies.

I use a small kiddie pool, but I put the litter box inside it.  That way, what litter the cat slings outta the litter box stays in the kiddie pool rather than on the floor.  I empty it every couple weeks or so.

My daughter and I hate stepping on bits of litter when we're in the garage racing on the slot car track.

Old boy gets off work on a Friday, and decides he wants some female company, so he heads to the local barroom.  The only females in the place were two very fat women sitting over at the bar.  He decided, "What the heck, I'm here", and proceeding towards them, he noticed them speaking English with a bit of an accent.  He decided to use that as an ice-breaker.

"Pardon me, Ladies, but would y'all be from Scotland?"

One turned to him, and looking down her nose at him replied, "Hmpf.  Wales!!"

He replied, "I'm terribly sorry.  Are you whales from Scotland?"

Don't eat whales, no problem.  Eat whales, your kids die.

Seems like a no-brainer.

There's a BBC documentary on YouTube called The Secret Life of Cats. I swear to God the researchers in charge of the study NEVER OWNED MORE THAN ONE CAT.

Cats have hootenannies. They gather together once in a while and just stare at each other. Then they go their separate ways. From watching that documentary, you would swear a cat is a solitary animal.

I wondered about that when they first brought out flushable litter. Cat litter is close to toxic waste in biological terms.

There's one sentence in tfa that even deals with kitty litter, and my HS Comp teacher would have crossed it out, quite frankly.
