So that's where all the black folks in London were last night.

Wow. That's some championship white knighting, right there.

If you engage in a "rap battle," whatever that is, you probably should not be surprised when the other contestant turns out to be a jerk.

So I guess there needs to be a British version of Idiocracy, as well.

2014-02-14 02:53:01 AM
So, I know we all like to say that each other's music sucks and posit that every generation does this.

That in mind, can we all just agree that rap and hip-hop has been utter shiat for the last decade or so?

OK, sure, I'm sold.

Go ahead and present all verbal argument gossip bullshiat in the form of a rap battle quoted directly from now on, RawStory, it'll at least make all your gossip-column non-content bullshiat mildly amusing.

2014-02-14 04:02:37 AM
Wow. That was pretty lame.

2014-02-14 04:12:43 AM
Ok, so the 2 minute vid consisted of the first 10 seconds saying he's going to rape the chick, then a full minute and a half of "Booooooo! Yoooooo, yooooooo, yoooooo, yooooooo, yoooooo" then 20 seconds of the judge rapper calling him a fat fark.

Throw in a bunch of pans of the crows waving their hands in the air going "OOooooooh!"

Thats not a rap battle, it didn't flow at all.

This is a rap battle, little asian dude tears this dude up. http://youtu.be/3Ei9emsQ-gw

So the rappist community will not put up with threats of rape where the victim is male.

Got it.

FFS, I'm a 37 year old white conservative and even I think now is the greatest time ever to be a music fan, rap or otherwise.  Really, you have hundreds, thousands of genres all available with a click of the mouse.  Hundreds of new albums every week.

Is there a bunch of clutter/shiat out there?  Sure.  But there's also a bunch of great work, you just have to sift through a little bit more.  We have access to more music than any generation in history, and for most of it we don't even have to pay.  Sure as fark beats swapping Geto Boys tapes that you had to have your older brother buy.

You'd think the "hero" would have a better retort if it was staged and he was prepared for it.

I just feel like I'm too old to dig too deep in genres to find the gems.  Pandora and Slacker have helped though. You start with a band's station and hear the derivatives.

Pop music is inferior today than it has during times in the past. Admit that. But there will always be talented bands, rappers, singers.

What sites do you tend to find new music?

The rape comment was out of line. But not nearly as offensive as calling either performer a rappist.

The difference is this, before the digital age of music and when the "music industry" was decent, musicians/bands had to gain fame. Only after playing local gigs, getting on the radio, then eventually progressing to recordings, concerts and touring - were these guys famous. Those that made it, made it because the people liked what they produced. Now, musicians/bands are treated like brand products. You have Clear Channel and the rest of the cronies, fabricating musicians/bands and immediately assigning them fame. How many times have you heard someone now for the first time and are like "Who the fark is this?" This is doing a disservice to true artists, musicians, and bands. You have a boat load of really talented people, being out-marketed by "big music" pushing their shiat on everyone. My brother worked in the music industry for a long time, and he knew it was time to leave when he was having folks with zero talent waltz into the place already with fame assigned to them.

I find it interesting that rap is so tolerated by the left.  It certainly is demeaning to women and glorifies a sexist. drugs, guns and violence culture.

This is the type of stuff they would try to get banned as sexist hate speech normally but for some reason rap and rappers gets a free pass
