So you can never take your wedding band off?

2014-02-13 08:39:18 PM
So, if you have iron rich blood will this give you a quicker, stronger boner?

Just remember to skip the MRIs.

Obviously that's not his fingering finger.  I mean really, how much sensitivity does that take from your digit?

Because you don't know how to use a fork to remove a can lid?

I still have a nasty scar on my thumb from a cut I received when opening a dog food can when I was about 8 years old, so I'm really getting a kick....

NFA: Because you don't know how to use a fork to remove a can lid?

i just push on one side and the other side goes up....

2014-02-13 10:04:38 PM
That's why you stop opening the can with the lid still attached. It usually bends up, you grab it, the end.

2014-02-13 10:05:19 PM
wouldn't you also need to be careful when handling your credit cards and basically never work in IT?

A Wired reporter had a magnet implanted in her finger back in 2006. Seemed like a poor idea then, still does today.

It'd be all pooled up in your well hung finger.

and if you miss it but still have that last sliver still attached, just dump it into you pot.   The sliver will hold and the lid will bend out and over.

2014-02-13 10:17:21 PM
Not a good enough reason. I just leave a little bit of lid attached and squeeze the can slightly.

1- Don't credit card all have a chip now?
2- When's the last time you used a floppy? A small magnet outside a Hard Disk will not scramble it.

...Not that having a magnet in your finger is smart even it is no danger to your data.

Removes the top of the can entirely - cuts through the sides. Doesn't fall in, very low chance of cutting yourself by accident. It's fantastic.

Yeah, I imagine that would make an MRI problematic.

I had something like that a long time ago. It made the top of the can very sharp -- probably less likely to cut yourself that way, but it didn't seem like the perfect solution.

34 dollars, that's way over what I'm ready to pay for a can opener.

You need an impressively powerful magnet to screw up magnetic memory like credit cards or hard drives. Unless he's handling floppy disks, he's fine.

They sell can openers like that in the grocery store for $11-$15. I've had one for years.

According to the Reddits (I know, blasphemy), they were hacked in the same way Anthony Wiener was hacked; that is, not at all. They're lying and stealing all of the money themselves.

It gets whatever is on the inside on your finger and at the same time contaminates what's inside with the germs on the top of the can.

If you're using an old-fashioned can opener, and you stop just before cutting all the way through the lid, it will twist and pop up by itself.

I use a magnet, too, when that situation arises, I kep them on my fridge, but don't think it would work better were it implanted in my finger.

So you can feel the presence of magnetic fields.

Which, judging by the look is a disturbing sensation at best.

Don't cans come with those things where you can just open them.  The pull tab type I mean.  Or do I just buy the fancy foods that have those.

Because there can be shiat or dust or germs or whatnot on the top of the can that you just dipped into your food....that's why I rinse my can's off first before opening then pushing down.  The day I watched my cat leave the litter box then stand on the tuna on the counter I had that epiphany.

I once lanced my thumb with a bottle of this:

seacat.files.wordpress.com

Old ass bottle my friend had was so crusty, it had formed what amounted to a blade around the lid.

Drunken late night microwave burritos can be quite painful, when you get a deep, hot-sauce papercut.

Why not just buy a can opener that has a built-in magnet to hold the lid?

drjekel_mrhyde: he whale is the can opener in which the lid of the can never can fall in since it cuts the outside of the can

Ours is a bunny rabbit, and I have no shame in using it. Except on things stored in water when I use a traditional opener and use the lid as a strainer.

2014-02-14 12:11:55 AM
Yes, that way, when you smash your finger, you can shatter the magnet, filling your bloodstream with toxic metals. Awesome idea.

2014-02-14 12:16:00 AM
Yeah, I guess I have absolutely no need for my Kindle anymore, why not stick a device-killing magnet into my finger just for something that can be fixed by buying a better can opener (or lightly grabbing the lid when it pops up immediately before being completely separated from the can)?
