Zoomaster: Reddit had this days ago. Reddit is such a better site, I come back to Fark about once every week or two, to see if there is anything interesting, and if there is, Reddit already did it days ago. What is there like 7 or 8 "sub-Farks" with Reddit there are so many you can never get through them all. On Fark you can get through the whole website in 30 minutes../Plus what goes for intelligent conversation on Fark is "you're an idiot" "no, you're an idiot"//back to Reddit///go ahead and ban me, fark if I care
A look back at Caturday
Hai everbuddy, just wanted to check in and apologize (again) - I really anticipated and looked forward to being around a lot more this Caturday, but real life snuck up behind me and basically kicked me in the head when I least expected it and my normal DEFCON 3 status (SNAFU) quickly degraded to DEFCON 2 (FUBAR).And it ain't getting any better at the moment :o(Also, the weather sucks, we got almost 2 feet of snow a few days ago, followed by another few inches yesterday, and more expected tomorrow. But more importantly, I just want to take a moment to ask everyone to stop whatever you are doing and go and hug your cats/dogs/what have you (hey, all animals are welcome on Caturday) - and thank them for what they do for us. I would have given up by now if it was not for my beloved white boy, who keeps me fighting. Even if it is only so I can provide him with spicy wings
Salem Witch: catmandu:Thanks! How is Suzy doing? Have you made a decision regarding medications for her?We had a talk with the vet and decided that first we will get the extra weight off of Suzy. Trying to get her weight down while she's very hungry is just mean. Then we will try the phenobarbital and keep an eye on her liver function. Hopefully the side effects will be minimal. She is a healthy doggie otherwise and as long as her tail is still wagging, all is good.[imagizer.imageshack.us image 640x480]

lilyspad: GGracie: I have to admit that it was weird having my co-workers stare at my breasts.Um, and you said or did nothing about it? Were you like totally flashing cleavage, or are you just "full figured"? I would have put a stop to that right away!
tigerose: Link if you are an old style trek fan, you must see this. I really enjoyed it. And hey, they did once feature several black cats....
valnt9: does anyone know if I can buy earmite medswithout seeing a vet?

The Ice Queen: SSDI is actually based on what you've paid into the system. Every couple of years you should get a little thing from SSA stating that if you were to retire now, you would get xx/month. SSDI also expires, the shelf life is about 5 years or so after you stop working/paying into the system. There is also a waiting period of 5 months before benefits kick in from date of onset. Say if you are found disabled as of today, your benefit wouldn't kick in until July or August! That's why we try and push the onset back as far as we can go to try and eliminate that waiting period (like instead of being found disabled as of today, we are able to find you disabled as of last February, you'll get your benefits will kick in as that 5 month period is up - big PIA). Govt and public sector employees don't pay into Social Security. We pay into something else. Therefore, if we're found disabled, we get our benefits from whomever handles our pension and actually can only apply for Medicare. You can get around it by working a non-public sector job (like I do because Sallie Mae owns my ass and then some) but again, since I'm not contributing as much towards the system now, it would affect my benefits if I ever have to file.SSI is income/resource based and its basically a set amt, want to say like $800/month give or take. Anything else that comes in, like pensions, structured settlements, Worker's Comp benefits, etc, will drop that amt by so much. Its some freaky calculation that the field offices do and we have no idea how they figure it out on the medical end.The system is also really weighted towards the over 50 crowd. If you're under 50 you can almost forget it. Not that it can't happen, I've helped get claims approved for those under 50 but we're talking really sick people here. Like on dialysis, terminally ill, getting organ transplants, been in/out of psych hospitals with stays of months. 50 is the magic age and every 5 years, you get more factors in your favor. If you're over 60, ...

syzygy whizz: Real Women Drink Akvavit: syzygy whizz: Heads-up for working while on disability...you're allowed to make up to $1,070 a month by working.Holy Fark! Are you SERIOUS? What's the catch?[4.bp.blogspot.com image 302x320]No catch...this is from moi own experience. Been on disability for XX number of years, finally got tired of my life consisting of paying bills at the start of the month and then lying low for the rest. Was fortunate enough to get the job I have now...things are MUCH better! They do a 36 month 'trial period' and then average what you make. If you make less than the stated amount, you are not considered to be able to do substantial (think that's the term) labor.I ain't riding free, mind you...I do pay taxes, and I have a Medicaid spend-down every month (if you're working you may get some help with that as well. Do check it out...it can make a HUGE difference).Caveat: RWDA, catmandu, YMMV. I'm only familiar with how it works in Montana.akimbotoo...Ain't Costco grand? Friend of mine and I went there today...he needed stuff, I had the card and he helped me unload afterwards. Dropped a bit over $200...which was about what I figured- I was out of just about EVERYTHING. My aunt says she loves/hates Costco...you go in for toilet paper and come out with a set of snow tires and a swing set (neither of which I purchased...today).tigerose, RWDA...you might find the next bit worth going ( "Hmmmm...interesting!" )One of the things I bought was a huge bag of spinach for dehydrating...another thing I'm almost out of. Latest thing I've tried it with is a handful of dried spinach in with the steamed broccoli...a bit of butter, tarragon, salt and fresh-ground black pepper. It WORKS!Weather forecast is for the 40's, thank Bast and FSM...I can run the dehydrator and Riktor can go outside to avoid it. For some reason, the white noise really bothers him...he gets absolutely frantic with the need to GET AWAY from it.

catmandu: Finally some good new in the Catmandu household. I got approved for Social Security Disability so I will actually have something resembling an income. Money will still be tight but I won't have to rely on loans from family to get through the month. I still plan to work, but now I can find something part time that won't be as physically or mentally stressful. I am also hoping to get more referrals to do pet sitting. I can't walk dogs but I can definitely care for cats and small animals. One of these days I will remember to take my camera and get pictures of Ratchett and Riley to show you all now that they come out of hiding. Riley will even let me pet her a little (Ratchett still hisses if I get close). I go over there every other day while their hooman is recovering in a halfway house. An oldie but goodie to make up for the wall of text:[i283.photobucket.com image 400x300]
Just in case I get cut off (again) I just wanna leave this here for Bathia_Mapes/ and anyone else who loves 'lil bub

Allen's tends to sell fast during storms. Lobstermen can't be using it ALL as bait preservative.I gave it up (after having my fair share over time) 3 years ago. Lost 7# in a month (and I'm not a heavyweight). Pretty sure it was all the whole milk I mixed with it 'cos my alcohol intake is the same :)
