Real Women Drink Akvavit: SO! As I was just being kinda sorta bummed cuz we are out of flour tortillas (THAT'S LIKE A NATIONAL EMERGENCY!!!) so I could not make flautas for breakfast unless I made tortillas first - which I am not going to do as I want to save my precious, small energy to do mah nails and look at Caturday - my Mom says "We haven't been to Disneyland in over a year. I think I'm going this year. Maybe around Halloween." and I started getting even moar upset. First, no tortillas. Plus I am sickly, though obviously feeling better today than I have in a while. NOW mom's talking the Happiest Place on Earth and Mandatory Attendance Annual Pilgrimage for All Angelenos (even those of us who moved to NorCal - it's the law. Look it up!) and I am very poor. I must have made a terribly sad face, because she said if I could get my own four day park hopper pass ($285) and carry my own weight as far as fuds go (so buy every other meal and provide my own snacks) she could figure out a way for me to not have to pay my share of house expenses for the month of October, since I'm the only one besides her that both lives here AND contributes financially toward house and vehicles.

If I work very hard when I am awake (Amazon MTurk is always good for a couple hundred a month if you push yourself not to walk away out of boredom, irritation and the recognition you are making less than an undocumented migrant farm worker) and limit my spending on books and nail polish and CDs and whatnot to LESS than a third of that at most, factor in my not having to pay the $550 in October - Holy Mother of The Almighty Mickey Mouse, I'm going to Disneyland!!!

My day just got better by a magnitude of AWESOME.

I lived in So Cal for 40 years and somehow always went to Disneyland in the summer. It was always at least 107 degrees or more. We didn't go there in cool weather until after we moved to Oregon. Had to be close by there one May and it had also rained the day before we went so the sky was clear enough to see the hills & only 70 degrees. It was delightful! No long lines. No heat-stroke, either!

Hey, folks... been home for a while..  Stretch apparently has a back injury.. xray shows nothing out of place.. sore, nevertheless..  have pain meds for her.. vet was very busy so took a while to get in and out.... she is zonked out on the couch at the moment... we got lots of rain here, snow was farther north.. looks like Maine and area is going to get socked again....  soooo ready for spring.. burning ban goes into effect tomorrow, I think... kinda pointless as stuff won't burn underwater... which is pretty much the condition around here.. water table is ground level. secondary sump pump has kicked in a few times... snow is mostly gone, melted by sun and rain... Fred is snug in his bed.. stuck his head out of the pet door and muttered obscenities ( in catspeak)... neighbor,s two St Bernards were running around in their yard.. they left wakes...

I always avoided the place in the summer because of the tourists. The rest of the year was fair game, though. I was pondering having a friend get me the SoCal pass, but I have been told that they know have taken measures to make sure the locals don't buy their discounted passes and then hand them off to far ranging friends, visiting relatives and long-lost Angelenos. Bummer. It's OK. I still get the California discount. w00t!

Man-friend tricked me but good.  He played off Valentine's Day and then walked through the door with the entire floral section of the store.  Even gave me a card that he obviously spent time looking for... REALLY obvious.  I was seriously shocked in a very wonderful way :-) :-) :-)

We would love some of your waters! It's supposed to rain here tonight, be sunny again by morning. We had two weekends in a row of rain, but we're still VERY dry here and having drought rationing and water rate hikes in the forecast. We all know it is coming and the local water board here in my part of NorCal had that issue on their agenda last week. A lot of people here are surprised we didn't have the drought plan in place last year. I think I also heard on the news last week that our reservoirs are only at about 60% statewide average of them all. That's BAD. That means the SoCal reservoirs (such that they are) are probably sitting at around 10-20% of average - if that. That also means the North vs South bickering here in California will once again start. Both sides will view me as a traitor no matter what I say, so I will say nothing.

lilyspad: GGracie: I have to admit that it was weird having my co-workers stare at my breasts.

Um, and you said or did nothing about it? Were you like totally flashing cleavage, or are you just "full figured"? I would have put a stop to that right away!

It's more just large breasted.  38-G, which is why I am GGracie.  I wasn't flashing the twins, but with a 38 inch chest with G's attached... they do get noticed.  To be honest, I don't really care if people stare.  I am VERY used to it.  I have a flat stomach... that spends a lot of time in the shade.  It doesn't make me uncomfortable... I just thought it odd that the women stared so obviously.

The boobie fairy visited me when I turned 14.  I went from nothing to DD's in a very short period of time.  My background is in Human Resources, so I am well versed in sexual discrimination/harassment.  As with many things in the work place, it's not a problem until it's a problem.  I don't feel it necessary to file a complaint over something that happens to me when I go to the grocery store or the gas station.  The only challenge I face from it is that I have to work a bit harder than others to gain true respect as people do have some bad notions about large breasts.  I've heard women whispering to each other "Are those real???".  Yes, who would do this to themselves on purpose???

There have been a few occasions when I did have to respond to co-workers who were committing serious sexual discrimination/harassment.  One locked me in my office and kept me there for 20 minutes while he explained to me that I "obviously wanted it".  I did have him fired.  Another co-worker came up and leaned over my desk to look down my shirt and said "You're serving up quite a load today", then had all of the male employees come up to my desk to do the same thing.  It was my first job, and although I was the personnel manager I didn't complain, I just wore baggier tops.  That was purely unprofessional behavior on everyone's part, including m ...

It's started to rain here on the wet coast so I decided to call my cat Sterling in.
At almost 14 years of age, he nonchalantly makes his way to the door, stops, does a little grooming,
takes a few steps, stops, looks at the rain drops in a puddle, take a few more steps, stops, meows at me and then finally comes in.
He is completely soaked and needs to dry himself off on my lap.

After all these years, you'd think cats would be smart enough to stay out of the rain if they don't like to get wet.
But no, they find new ways to agitate you as an expression to show you their love.

Of course, once he's toweled off and some wet food in his belly ...

I can't taste anything right now.  I ate some hot salsa this morning and didn't feel or taste anything.  I need some wasabi and a big bowl of sukiyaki.

Man-friend is highly intelligent, but he doesn't flaunt it.  He's a little bit redneck, very sweet, very loving, very caring, very gorgeous... as in I can be in the middle of explaining a complex seismological system, he takes off his shirt and I go derp... like he pushed ctrl-alt-del on my brain... I drool, my face turns red and then the system reboots.  Mid-40's and has 6-pack abs.  Not a scrap of fat on the man.  What was I saying?  Oh yeah, he's really smart.  He is an expert at "playing it cool".  He can lay back, give a wicked come hither stare, and I melt.
