I just heard the U.S. Olympic teams are blaming the rear vents on their suits for poor performance.
I dunno? What do you all think?

I have not watched one moment of the Olympics this year.  I saw that we are tied for 1st place in medals, and I did see that someone was saying something about their "body armor" clothing, but didn't look into it...

Real Women Drink Akvavit: syzygy whizz: Heads-up for working while on disability...you're allowed to make up to $1,070 a month by working.

Holy Fark! Are you SERIOUS? What's the catch?

[4.bp.blogspot.com image 302x320]

No catch...this is from moi own experience. Been on disability for XX number of years, finally got tired of my life consisting of paying bills at the start of the month and then lying low for the rest. Was fortunate enough to get the job I have now...things are MUCH better!

They do a 36 month 'trial period' and then average what you make. If you make less than the stated amount, you are not considered to be able to do substantial (think that's the term) labor.

I ain't riding free, mind you...I do pay taxes, and I have a Medicaid spend-down every month (if you're working you may get some help with that as well. Do check it out...it can make a HUGE difference).

Caveat: RWDA, catmandu, YMMV. I'm only familiar with how it works in Montana.

akimbotoo...

Ain't Costco grand? Friend of mine and I went there today...he needed stuff, I had the card and he helped me unload afterwards. Dropped a bit over $200...which was about what I figured- I was out of just about EVERYTHING. My aunt says she loves/hates Costco...you go in for toilet paper and come out with a set of snow tires and a swing set (neither of which I purchased...today).

tigerose, RWDA...you might find the next bit worth going ( "Hmmmm...interesting!" )
One of the things I bought was a huge bag of spinach for dehydrating...another thing I'm almost out of. Latest thing I've tried it with is a handful of dried spinach in with the steamed broccoli...a bit of butter, tarragon, salt and fresh-ground black pepper.
It WORKS!

Weather forecast is for the 40's, thank Bast and FSM...I can run the dehydrator and Riktor can go outside to avoid it. For some reason, the white noise really bothers him...he gets absolutely frantic with the need to GET AWAY from it.

This is where I'm at.  I just found out that the man-friend thinks Valentine's is a stupid holiday made up by the card and flower corporations.  So, shiat.  Not that I was hoping for a diamond tennis bracelet, but a card would have been cool.
So I shall watch Star Wars... the only version of episode 4 that should ever be acknowledged...  Something more important that love or flowers or even sex on Valentine's Day...

HAN SHOT FIRST!!!!

... wait, did I just say more important than sex??? WTF?  Such a conundrum...

Nah, I got better, physically anyway.

I was going to ramble on about how Man-Friend announced yesterday that he thinks Valentine's Day is stupid and made up by the flower and card industry... and how all I wanted was a card.  It hurts, but fark it...

I helped teach Diddums about the PH scale and helped him with his first Science fair project.  His was either the best or pretty damn close.  He received a ribbon and a ton of compliments.  Made him feel great... and that's what I should focus on.

I started a new job... after being a stay at home mom for a long time... they like me a lot.  I have to admit that it was weird having my co-workers stare at my breasts.  It wasn't so much that they stared... Hell, when I worked before the male workers would try to throw pieces of paper into my cleavage and my boss would have me turn around slowly in front of him so he could check me out.  This was new, as the majority of the coworkers who stared at my breasts... were women.  New experience... don't care much... whatever makes you happy... but takes some lessons from the guys.  If you're going to stare at least try the quick glances up to the eyes and the bending your neck back to make it look like you are trying to make eye contact.

If it gets to the point I must apply for the SSDI, that will be good to know. Right now I'm getting by (paying rent only, which is kinda sorta "getting by" when you live with your fambly, I guess) on my very minimal private temporary disability insurance and making my cat fud and nail polish moneez on Amazon Mturk when I can stay awake for more than an hour or two. It really sucks. I could use the insurance too, though. That's something I hadn't thought of before.

I suppose I should talk to the doc about that on Wednesday too, huh? He's the one who thinks I'm disabled, just unsure for how long...

ouch, my tiny bit of remaining pride is hurting... (totally no offense meant - I'm just the stubborn I TOTALLY GOT THIS YOU GUISE! type, even if I've obviously broken bones and am bleeding, so it just kills me inside to admit I might not be OK. I mean BAD kills me inside.)

Thanks for the info. Since SSDI is federal, it should be the same in California as far as how much we can make/blah blah blah. Our cost of living here is really high, but still, that's quite a bit more than what I know they pay folks who are JUST on disability.

There are pleas for holler at your local media outlets, but doing so over here will accomplish less than nothing useful.  More likely to bring nice young men in clean white coats to haul one off to Funny Farm. Also, URL of  petition won't copy to paste.  Reckon I need to start typing that link & requesting you to pls go sign.

Not mostly frozen, just more than usual. From the Syracuse Post Standard earlier this week:
"Lake Ontario, traditionally the last of the lakes to freeze, has 32 percent of its surface area covered with ice. While that's by far the least of the Great Lakes, that's still nearly three times Ontario's long-term average of 11 percent."

The same article says Lake Erie is 96% frozen over, that'll stop Buffalo from getting much more lake effect snow this season. It'll cut down on my snow too as I'm on the west side of Rochester and lake snow from Erie reaches here way too often!
