I'd pay that only if the ticket came with a lovely parting gift.

I talk to more than a few Noo Yawkers that actually come to Seattle to see the Yanquis play because of the insane ticket prices.

Derek Jeter will be hurt and won't be able to play in that game.

You probably didn't hear it here first.

I think I'll watch it on TV where I can drink my own amazing craft beer and cooked dinner along with my lady's killer Nutella cake, as opposed to an expensively bad view, over-priced light beer, over-priced shiatty pizza, and an over-priced frozen malt shake from an annoying stand vendor.

That seems totally rational. I mean, according to the sports writers, he's the best baseball player ever to walk the earth

And you'll miss 2/3 of the game. But you won't notice.

I'm going with Sep. 7, vs. the Royals. Damn ankle.

Exactly what I was thinking.  The last month or two of the season should be hilarious

Last year in the 17 games he did play, Jeter only hit .190 so it doesn't look like he could either...

Uncle Pooky: This is why the spankees sued StubHub

I hope they lost. StubHub doesn't set the prices, they just facilitate the exchange and take a cut.

Yankees fans want the best team all the time, they should be used to high prices. As long as they're the only ones getting bilked I'm good with that. So are the Yankees, who bilk them regularly.

Dumbass haters aside, this is stupid. Odds are, Jeter will be on the DL by then.

2014-02-13 05:45:53 PM
Even if Jeter is on the DL, the yankees will absolutely pull out all the stops during their final home game of the year for Jeter.

jeter can barely hit batting practice pitching now.  not sure why people think he'll be healthy in september.  i would have bought tickets for june, maybe july...granted i guess either way the yankees will have him tip his hat during that last game.

Does purchasing the tickets ahead of time come with some sort of gift? Perhaps a basket, even?

He'll be on IR by August.

I heard you get a hot cocoa sampler and a Yankees bar towel.

or you could wait until individual tickets go on sale next week.

It's nice that people have so much affection for a player that they'd be willing to pay that much to see his last game. I hope he doesn't do something embarrassing or disappointing. The price does seem awfully high.

So many fark threads this year:
Last game in KC
Last game in Tampa
Last game in Baltimore

I'm rooting for Baltimore and Tampa to keep Jeter out of the playoffs this year. I'll even settle for the Sox. I have no hope for the Jays.

Yeah, this was my first thought too.  I'd say the odds of him finishing the season on the active roster are only slightly better than the odds of the Astros winning the World Series this year.  But hey, idiots, enjoy dropping 11 grand to watch they Yanks play out the string in a meaningless late September game.

2014-02-13 07:17:02 PM
People listing tickets at $11,000 has nothing to do with what the tickets actually go for. Much like any other game, ticket prices will come down as these people realize that there aren't enough morons out there with that kind of money and desire to waste it on those tickets, especially given the likelihood that Jeter won't be playing.

....But you have to listen to Michael Kay

I wonder what his sendoff will be if he makes the All Star team. Bigger than Mo's? I like Jeter but I'm ready for the last of the "Core Four" to GTFO. Though it would be funny if he signed for a year with the Red Sox in 2015. Just for the hell of it.

/Can't wait for baseball!

I'm gonna go out on a limb here.  I say he plays all season, and hits moderately well for a guy his age.  If this is his final season, he'll play through some pain.
