It's clear that the key is get it in 1 hour or less before events begin. I finally learned that and put this one in.

I love how on ESPN, Jeremy Schapp was saying there was nothing even Putin could do about the weather.

Yes, there is. He could have nominated Yekaterinburg to host. Out in the Urals, single-digit and low-double-digit temperatures, snowing all this week.

I got away with 5 minutes last night. Never again. Except mine would have went Skeleton, slopestyle & short track oh my.

So who's up for seeing US curling go 0-5?

It will be thrilling to watch U.S lose to Slovaks and Russians.
I love Kessel & JVR & Kane & Kesler but they will crash and burn.

Actually, I just saw that the US women have a bye to start today. Only three matches at 12am: Canada v Denmark, China v Britain, Switzerland v Sweden

Correct, they're on at 10AM. Nothing real compelling for me then. Guess I'll come back at 9 for the biathlon. I'll catch up on the rest of the stuff after that.

Trying to decide if I want to get up early for the Men's Ski Slopestyle final (4:30 AM).

Yeah and give them credit, they're 2-1 and their only loss was to the Canadians

Denmark might steal a point on Canada's hammer

2014-02-13 12:20:59 AM
And Canada knocked out a Denmark rock and moved in enough to get a point for themselves.

2014-02-13 12:28:43 AM
Well, that went well, Canada.

10 minutes to... oh god slopestyle jesus why whose poor athletes deserve to live.

I'm noticing patches of grass next to the slopestyle course now. They might have been there previously, but they're definitely visible now.

I remember in the run-up to the Beijing Olympics seeing a couple articles talking about how the Chinese had embarked on an ambitious program to increase their medal counts.  Apparently their main strategy was to look for Olympic sports that only a few countries were serious contenders in and then ID and train talent like hell for those sports.  It wouldn't surprise me if the curling team was a result of this program.

i'd be like, "yeah, well, it isn't like we SPENT A TRILLION DOLLARS* TO SEND A shiatTY farkING EXPLORER TO THE MOON THAT DIED AFTER TWO FREAKING DAYS OR ANYTHING.....I mean, your shot, China."

/i know, i know, "yeah, of *your* money spent at 'made in china' Wal-Mart, dogeye!"

According to the BBC the Chinese are saying the Jade Rabbit doesn't want to go on the cart.  It also feels happy and thinks it will go for a walk.

2014-02-13 01:39:15 AM
Those patches of grass by the Olympic "flag" on the snow were NOT there before!

2014-02-13 01:43:39 AM
Pavelski is centering Kessel and JVR.  Gonna say it right now, that's Team USAs best forward line.

2014-02-13 01:47:36 AM
Huh.  James Woods is competing in Ski slopestyle...and as a Brit to boot!

/The course looks CHEWED up, but they seem to be landing everything...

Don't worry, that won't last. The also-rans are up now.

See?

2014-02-13 01:52:46 AM
The Canadian girls are wearing low cut shirts. Occasionally there is some down-blouse action when they curl.

2014-02-13 01:53:09 AM
Beautiful tap-raise and freeze by the Canadian skip to steal a point in the 7th end. It was such a good shot that the Danish skip threw her last rock straight through the rings rather than risk taking out her second-shot rock and giving the Canadians several more.

For the life of me, I can never hunt down the names of the commentators for the global feed. It's never mentioned anywhere. You'd think it would be.

2014-02-13 02:10:37 AM
Livestream feed gave me enough info to go on. The slopestyle commentator is Jack Nicholls, who normally does British motorsports.

London 2012 was his first venture into non-motorsports commentating.

Ishkur: The Canadian girls are wearing low cut shirts. Occasionally there is some down-blouse action when they curl.

Keep your eyes on Denmark's second. She gave a nice flash of cleavage in the 8th end, and in the 9th they switched to a wide camera shot for her throws.

2014-02-13 02:13:16 AM
The Swiss beat the Swedes like 3 to 1 in the cute girl department, but it hasn't translated to points unfortunately for them.  All the matches going on are nice and close though :)

2014-02-13 02:15:29 AM
That miss is very likely the game. Danish skip owns this one.

FIELD GOAL!!

2014-02-13 02:18:00 AM
Serious miss by the Danish skip - missed a double takeout. Canada lies three, and is guaranteed two points unless the Danes make a triple takeout.

2014-02-13 02:19:41 AM
Damn, Canada about to go up by 3.  That's pretty much it for Denmark.

2014-02-13 02:19:49 AM
And a simple draw for three, almost to the button. With one end to go.

2014-02-13 02:21:44 AM
And yes, I remember the Swiss third from the Vancouver games. Yes ... yes ...
/in my bunk
