Wow, that's some quality work. I presume you were somehow involved with the sorely missed FarkTV?

2014-02-12 01:41:51 PM
Can  you work in some bacon and ninjas too? Oh, and maybe a guy going "waasssssupp" and some lolcats as well?

I mean, this movie is a commentary on oversaturated subject material in pop culture, right?

2014-02-12 01:42:06 PM
Warm Bodies was better.

2014-02-12 01:51:56 PM
God, I hate the whole "found footage" trend in film today, 99% of the time it just comes off as either laziness or a sad way to cover up the fact that the Director and DP have no idea how to use a camera.

/best of luck, though

How original, a zombie movie.

"Special prize" seems oddly ominous to me.

You know how I can tell your zombie movie sucks?

Because you're using kickstarter.

2014-02-12 03:12:21 PM
Ouch, some great comments already.

I still haven't decided on the special prize. It could be a download of the movie or maybe even getting to rename the main character.  The latter could get me into trouble as I don't think people would find a love story between Rina and Captain Big Schlong all that engrossing.

2014-02-12 03:15:37 PM
do a porn version too and call it "Hung...grrrrr"

No but Angry Vagina and Captain Big Schlong starring in Seven Sloppy Holes: Beyond the Anal Apocalypse would probably stand a better chance of earning a profit.

Bad vampire movies suck.  This one bites.

A zombie movie? Did... did you think of that all by yourself? That's an original thought! I don't think I've ever seen anyone else delve into the genre before and make a movie! Good for you!

2014-02-12 03:47:06 PM
$711, already double the budget this movie deserves.

Good news, whatever makes a zombie show successful isn't quality, just look at how big The Walking Dead is.

RedPhoenix122: Warm Bodies was better.

I was worried about this too after reading the description of Warm Bodies.  I wasn't worried after I saw the movie and read the book.  Hunger is sufficiently different.  For starters, my main character doesn't give off any stalker vibes (at least I hope not).

There is truth here, but some of our shots are going to be much more difficult because of the found footage aspect.  I'm going for long, continuous shots which can be a nightmare.  Take the stab scene in the bathtub in the trailer.  If anything messes up, we have to redo the whole damn thing (and it did mess up, twice).  That means an hour to reset (clean the bathroom and actors, reset blood effects and make up) and go again.  It would have been fantastic if we could have had different cameras to cut to.  Some FF movies, like chronicle, have a million cuts throughout for this purpose.

Just stick with the $711 you already have pledged. I don't see you really needing more than what it'll cost to buy 3 pizza's every day for a week.

Reminds me of this time I was frantically trying to escape from this zombie.  She was blind-- her eyes probably pecked from her head by a scavenging crow or something.  I was trapped, kicking at her, as she continued to grasp at me blindly.  Finally, she managed to take hold of me.. well, lets just say "inner thigh area" if you know what I mean.  She paused, and to my surprise, exclaimed "You've got the biggest penis I've ever put my hands on!"
To which I replied, "You're pulling my leg."

So, what do I win?

HUNGER! Now with shattering dialogue!

"Doctor, haven't you taken enough samples?"
"[BBUURRRPPP] Hey, who's the doctor here?"

Fark user number 11,015 has to be worth some kind of money, right?  He's been here, guys.  Give him your money.  I would, but I can't contribute to zombie movies, it defies my feelings about a world in general that still accepts zombies.  Zombies are done, man.  Sharks, giant insects and reptiles, werewolves, natural disasters, alien invasions, supernatural phenomena...I don't watch that stuff anymore.  It's time for something else.  Can you film the simulated death of people who keep putting crap on my Facebook wall?  I swear this isn't for selfish purposes, but I can send you pictures of relatives and other acquaintances.

2014-02-12 04:44:43 PM
How in the hell do you plan to do post-production that cheap?  That's one of the most expensive/time-consuming parts of filming, man.

Have the girl in the towel lose her towel.

2014-02-12 04:48:47 PM
The med student has to sacrifice his life to save the girl he loves, using some type of blood transfusion or whatever. Ya we get it, and it already is going the way of the Titanic.  I wouldn't donate to that for a dollar.

$75,000 to raise for your contribution of a subpar idea in an overly saturated market? You're an Aerospace Engineer.  If you won't even fork up the $59,000 you're asking for others to contribute to your bad idea, then why would you expect anyone else to contribute to it?

How about you minimize your rediculously high expenses, and make a found footage type of Rombie flick about romance in zombie times in which some promising doctor films his progress in curing his girl, to show how he was able to cure this epidemic, but the cure died with him.  The expenses are far less, and the movie becomes a lot more believable.

No funny comment here, just a dose of reality.  Make it on the cheap and if there is genuine love for the product, it will rise above your costs and look like a million dollar flick.  Having that go viral on the internet, will ensure you will get money for your next bad idea.

2014-02-12 04:49:18 PM
Does the funny comment have to be about the zombie movie?

I was told Lisa Ann was in this movie.

Not sure if this dude is the Farker: Aerospace engineer by day, writer/director/producer by night , but you go girl!

I hear you.  Typical zombie movies have been done.  Oh no, there's an apocalypse, let's try to survive, and hey let's kill some zombies in creative ways while we're at it.  The genre is evolving, focusing more on the characters and less on those genre staples.  I hope Hunger is a larger step in that direction.

The core of my story is a guy struggling with the decision to let go of someone he loves when she comes down with a terrible disease.  I could have called the disease cancer and made it a pure drama, but instead I went with an unnamed disease that turns you into a crazed eating machine.

That's because I'm still a huge zombie fan.  But I did try to innovate on the idea a bit.  First my zombies eat everything except each other, though they prefer fleeing flesh.  The more they eat of us, the more they remember who there were, but it doesn't stop the terrible hunger.  Also, some people in Hunger get the disease without being bitten or getting zombie blood in an open wound.  Being an engineer, I had to consider the population mechanics of my zombies.  If just one gets you, you'll turn before he can finish you off, but you'll be missing pieces.  If a group gets you, there will be nothing left to continue the spread.  This means no apocalypse using the standard rules, therefore I needed another infection vector that could strike anyone... about at the same rate as cancer only it doesn't wait until you are old.

But I could ramble on and on about this.  I'll just leave it as, with Hunger, I tried to bring some new things to the genre.

/also, it's about time I cash in on that user number

FitzShivering: How in the hell do you plan to do post-production that cheap?  That's one of the most expensive/time-consuming parts of filming, man.

Gabriel and his crew handle production and post together for one fee, and when I suggested that split, he agreed.  That might not be how it ends up though.  I also have another professional editor as a friend who works for booze (plus money, but at a much lower rate).

veryequiped: The med student has to sacrifice his life to save the girl he loves, using some type of blood transfusion or whatever. Ya we get it, and it already is going the way of the Titanic.  I wouldn't donate to that for a dollar.

Great, so you can still donate to my movie.

Am I being Zach Braff'd?  If I had the funds available, I'd do it.  If this fails, I just might try to retool everything to be on the super cheap (this project is already on the cheap) and fund it all myself.  I still think the movie at $75k would be better than the movie at $25k.  This way also gets the word out, starts developing a market, and even gets partners.  I've had a couple of makeup artists already drop me a line.

Ignore them. Live life to your standards not other peoples. No matter what you do you in life people will give you a million reasons why you can't succeed and every once in a whole a reason why you can. Never give up.
Good luck with your endeavors.

Is this like one chapter from the upcoming sequel to some book that was adapted into a screenplay for "World Snore Zzzz?"

That's why the special prize just might be renaming the main character.  I started writing the movie well before I saw Walking Dead.

That said I think you could actually Weekend At Bernies some corpses and they'd emote better.

Could submit to Kevin Smith Movie Club after finishing. Might get picked up and distributed.

Worth a shot.

As for a funny comment:

All women want a man who loves them for who they are, not how they look.

Expression of that love zombie style?

"Of course I love you...for your BRAAAAAAAIIIIINNNNSSSSS!"

I'm going to steal your idea. i'll only need $2000.00 and a few sock puppets.
any backers?

Full frontal nudity. The movie needs at least 1 full frontal sex scene with full penetration. Trust me on this, it's for the art.

2014-02-12 09:19:24 PM
This was already touched upon in "Dead Girl" (which is not a great movie by any means but it's a premise that hasn't been touched by the zombie genre before so for that it's worth watching).

It's disturbing and upsetting, if poorly acted.
