You're on the beer/coffee list now, by the way.

I'll quit with the off-topic crap for now.

While I've stated my opinion on illegal immigration and how it should be handled, and made some criticism of the law FTA, let me make it clear.

Arizona House Bill 2192, authored by Rep. Carl Seel (R) is one of the worst pieces of legislation in the long, sad history of bad legislation. It is unenforceable, ill-conceived, and more likely to promote racist actions on the part of law enforcement. It should be dropped in the delivered toilet and flushed away.

The bill specifies that those "public resources" include roads and schools, as well as any other taxpayer-funded entity.

I'd love to see the feedback loop that erupts from these people getting arrested for anything, put into a publicly owned cop car, driven on a public street to a public jail, where they await arraignment in a publicly owned courthouse, you guys get the gist of it by now...

Dumbass REALLY didn't think his cunning plan all the way through.

Yes. Clinton did a pretty spanky job. Of course he almost lost that job because he was schtooping the office tart which again speaks to where neo con priorities lie. theflatline: placing her in a womens facility

Negative, she was placed in a men's facility, in a solitary cell, with posted guards. She was only moved to a women's facility because of the outrage generated. If she hadn't posted her situation, and her girlfriend hadn't updated, she'd have been kept at the men's facility because apparently Torontoan's are even dumber than their mayor.

Eh, I'd have been fine with him doin' the help, apart from the huge gaping hole it blows in the moral value of workplace sexual harassment laws (it's never an equal power dynamic when your boss gets some from you). Perjury after being caught was stupid. Not worth removing him over, the stain on his historical record is enough (and doesn't come out at the dry cleaners either). At the time, I'm not sure which Democrat would have been a more prominent candidate than Al Gore, and since he didn't go crazy until years later he might have made a good President.

Well shucks... now I feel bad for being a dick earlier but hey... it's Fark, right? You're turning out more reasonable than I first thought too.

Frankly I think the only way to solve the Mexico problem is to make Mexico a better place to live. Not an easy task at this point. One way would be to completely end the WOD, and as much as I hate hard drugs, legalize, regulate and distribute/tax the drugs that have made it so damned dangerous to live in Mexico lately. But not just that... consider this. Perhaps it's time to simply make Mexico an honorary state and get the standard of living up down there. I mean for all the money spent fighting illegals and all the ridiculous problems created by the corrupt government down there just annex them already. There is a much easier to contain geographic choke point between central america and south america so focus on that instead. A huge section of the US populace are Mexican now anyway and I'm not saying break the border wide open but they could seriously use a hand with all that narco sh*t, education, healthcare, etc and having US oversight into the goings on of their gov would really likely solve a lot of problems down there. Of course they'd have to be into it but man... how could they NOT want a US backed Mexico instead of this piddly ass nonsense and antagonism.

Just make it a better place to live without destroying the country/culture and I'm sure you'll have a hell of a lot less people willing to risk their lives/freedom trying to get into the states. They could be the browner, spicier Canada.

There is 'Stupid' and then there is 'Criminally Stupid' along with other things like 'abuse of power, spiteful and just plain mean'.

None of those qualities are good for a politician but after reading this piece, plus the previous FARK piece about Pensacola, Florida making it illegal for the homeless to use blankets or any form of protective covering to keep warm, I'm starting to think it's dangerously wide spread.

Just look at the squabble between Congress and President Clinton that culminated in global ridicule and now Congress and President Obama -- making this congress the most do-nothing sitting congress in history.

There are more important things to take care of -- like the cuts in social services for the poor, cuts in food stamps, the forever rising costs of medical care and the curiously rapidly growing rift between rich and poor.

Besides, wipe out the illegal immigrant population and watch your food prices double as farmers have to pay real wages to real Americans to do the harvests. What will landlords do when they can't rent their apartments designed for 5 people to 20 Illegals at twice the price? They might even have to spend money to make costly repairs.

You think the lawn company who does your grass monthly is expensive now, just wait until they have to replace any Illegals with Genuine Americans.

We can't even get Puerto Rico's standard of living up to Mississippi level after all this time, how are we going to do that with a country the size of Mexico. The size of the border is not the problem, the real problem is lack of interior enforcement which draws people to the border. If people knew they couldn't find jobs and had a non-astronomical chance of being deported once they got into the U.S. not as many would come over.

If it was genuine sexual harassment then I'd be a lot less forgiving but from all accounts it really seemed like she was the pursuer and knew what she was doing. Besides, sex scandals (unless they involve kids and/or unwilling participants) aren't the type of thing I care about when considering a politicians merits. The lying was bad but that type of attack was kind of unprecedented and really changed the face of politics. I think ole Billy boy and his team just had no idea how to respond so they went the denial route. Definitely a mistake but it may have worked out just as badly even if he came clean right out of the gate... at least politically. I think that was really the turn for the repubs from playing reasonably fair to doing anything and everything possible to attack the opponent.

As far as Gore... I never liked the guy. If he was any kind of a decent, freedom loving American he never would have backed his twat of a wife with her crusade against free speech. Considering how all that ended up turning out in the end and some of the filthy tactics that were used in the process it shows ineptitude and poor priorities. Still... would have been far better than Bush/Cheney what with their ridiculous wars but Gore was no where near the statesman Clinton was and he likely would have been a one termer.

I'm all for cracking down on illegal immigrants.  I disagree with every republican policy except for the strong anti-illegal immigrant policy.  Drivers licenses, the ability to work, the ability to rent an apartment etc can and should be restricted to legal residents.  However, a public bathroom is a public bathroom.  Would you prohibit a European tourist from using a public bathroom?  Would you make them pay a fee to use it but exclude citizens from the fee?  Public bathrooms are just that- public.

Seriously? It's not impossible and it's for good reasons that immigrating requires some effort. No developed country in the world just lets people walk in and start using public benefits and resources without some kind of process, most of which are far more onerous and restricted than the U.S.

I've worked with lots of people here (in the US) on visas.  It's not impossible.  It may be difficult, but in either case -- difficult or impossible -- so be it.  It's not like there's some inalienable right to move to whatever country you feel like moving to.  If you disagree or feel the system is too restrictive, then (through your representatives in Congress) change the law.

And that is the discussion NOBODY on the pro-immigration side ever wants to have.

It's really pretty simple: there are more people in the world who want to move here than this country can sustain (economically, socially, etc.) - and if you disagree with that then you have no business being part of the discussion.  Given that fact, you have to have a process to let in the amount of people this country CAN sustain (per month, or per year, whatever).  EVERYBODY has to use that process, period.  If you get in, great!  Welcome to the U.S.  If you don't get in...sorry, but you don't get in, that's the way it HAS to be.  Now, if we aren't letting enough people in (every month, year, whatever)...then CHANGE THE LAW - BUT DON'T IGNORE IT.

Sorry, my bad, "You're a racist!" is easier.
