I saw that the Winnipeg Blue Bombers were starting Max Hall this last season. They probably have a call in to Weeden's agent.

Wouldn't Wheeden be a good guy for the Chiefs or Pats?

For some reason, I expected the CFL to go after a better QB than Max Hall.

As bad as you think it is for Brandon Weeden right now, remember that he is already 30 years old. He's not even going to have Rick Mirer's career.

Browns could simply cut him and eat the salary cap hit. They have plenty of room and there don't seem to be many prospects of them using it any other way.

More likely they will cut Hoyer after drafting their new QB, because his cap hit is the smallest of their current 3. And because Browns

FTFA: The 2013 game film shows a 30-year-old quarterback still struggling with pocket movement, field vision, decision making, touch and ball placement.

Assuming the Browns are amendable to trading Weeden, they will have a hard time finding a suitor willing to part with a late-round draft pick for him.

Also, nobody wants to be in Cleveland.

Except the Bengals.  They probably want Weeden in Cleveland.

At this point, they should just hire washouts, people from the penal system, never-was guys, and people who show up at training camp and gate crash.

The only game I saw, he threw three picks, including a pick-6. That may have been on 3 consecutive drives. I don't remember.

Actually, the first of his two superhuman games was with Weeden at QB...and mostly in garbage time.

The "thank god" should come from the rest of the receiving corps...but then, no one outside of Gordon could catch worth crap for most of the year...and even Gordon exhibited some Randy Moss Syndrome out there...

Starting QBs in the CFL make around $500,000 a year, and have to pay the higher Canadian taxes.  Third string QBs in the NFL make that much, and they don't have to worry about getting concussed every week.

Dave Dickenson was a star QB in the CFL, and he headed south to be the third-string QB in San Diego.

The type of QBs the CFL attracts are Max Hall and Troy Smith, who is the new starter in Montreal.  Guys who can't quite crack an NFL lineup.  Or smaller QBs like Jeff Garcia who played well in college but didn't get drafted.

/it's a minor league, but I really love watching the CFL.  Football in July through November is awesome.

I was giving him the benefit of the doubt and going to say they put him on the advanced track thanks to his college history. But if that's the case, then 5x.

But now that he's a semi-star he's probably safe.

I think the answer to this is the Patriots cut Brian Hoyer, who is a potential starter for Cleveland next year and better than Brandon Weeden.  The Pats and Chiefs let Matt Cassell go, who is probably better than Hoyer, the Pats let go of Hoyer, who is better than Weeden.
/I don't know why Weeden swallowed a fly.

Yeah he's terrible. Taking the longest time to throw (on average) in the league on top of horrible decision making and throwing ability is, well, not great. I'm not sure I'd take Tebow over him, but I actually thought about it for a few seconds.

How did Cleveland not hire Schiano? From all reports, it became a very real possibility in the least weeks of their search.

Can you imagine the pure strains of MSRA that could be studied with Schiano overseeing that franchise?

Well, they have to wait to see if "Draft Day" will do for them what "Major League" did for the Indians.

Well let's see he was drafted 22nd in the first round. So by the Cleveland Browns draft exchange rate they should trade him for the guy who got got picked about 20 spots lower the year after.

Let's just give them the QB nearest that pick from the next draft...Geno Smith!

No way in hell they cut Hoyer. Campbell and Weeden will be gone. They'll swallow the cap hit. If they draft 2 QBs (one high and one low) then they consider the roster full. If they only draft one QB, they'll keep Alex Tanney.

I never understood why they picked him in the first place - he was quite a bit older and had a long way to go to be a decent starter. I mean, why a 1st rounder on the guy. The next year, Russell Wilson was picked 3rd round, and he was a TON better QB, but a bit short.

The Browns just suck at picking QBs. Cursed.

As for the folks talking about Max Hall and the Bombers - I don't know that the Bombers would know a decent QB if one was dropped out of the sky into their new stadium. They stuck with Broken Buck for far too long, and had a decent chance at QBs that might be OK if they really wanted them. I think they are after the Riders' Drew Willy now. They missed on Burris (whew for them - what a dink) and Collaros, but Ottawa now has Glenn and Burris, so maybe they could have pried Glenn free since he is kinda boring, but an upgrade from what they are playing with now.

It's more fun to point out that he's older than Aaron Rodgers.
