(Buzzfeed)   Someone's been sending GOP Congressmen threats to their private email addresses over the debt ceiling. "It must be another member, probably one of the crazy ones." Doesn't really narrow it down   (buzzfeed.com) divider line 20

This may very well just be the crazy ones *not* in the government. I'm curious if they're taking it as a legit threat and that's why they're being staunchly anti-economy lately.

If the GOP leadership has any sense left, they will jettison the Tea Party extremists now, refuse to funnel money to their re-election campaigns, and Primary all Tea Party incumbents with moderate, business-focused Conservatives. They need to take back the heart of the GOP from religious fundamentalists and right-wing wackos, before the Republican Party is destroyed completely.

gods dammit, I KNEW this would happen.

If they jettisoned the teabaggers, who would be left? I haven't noticed a lot of sensible Republicans lurking in the background out of the limelight...

I don't disagree but with gerrymandering the GOP will have enough success to reinforce their beliefs in their current strategy.  It will take two events for them to change.  1) the GOP needs to lose the next two presidential elections and 2) the GOP needs to get lambasted in state elections in 2020.

GOP opens Congress's door to teabagger economic-terrorists, then turns around and acts shocked that they commit acts of terrorism against members of Congress.

The GOP is a drain on civilization.  It has nothing of value to offer in compensation for the trouble it causes.

The only problem is what would take their place.

The sad part is that, apparently, they fully realize that "crazy" is a major faction in their caucus.

Thugs.

I know.  They're worse than Richard Sherman.

They're looking at it wrong: it's UN Representative 1! That ebil United Nations is threatening our glorious followers of St. Reagan (tax cuts floweth in his name) to convince them to commit political suicide and guarantee a permanent DemonRat majority for a generation!

This will NOT be tolerated! We must cut funding to the UN in response to this threat, and possibly leave the UN to the commies and takers that have infiltrated. No, we will not allow any UN agenda (1-1001, or bigger) to taint the great USA. We will stand strong, bring down the other, and that includes the foreigner in the 'White' House.

Stand up fellow Republicans! Stand up to the DemonRats, UN, and the so-called (illegitimate) President. Impeach them all! Ready your 2nd amendment solutions! (Just in case they try to send us true patriots to FEMA death camps)

That won't work in the South. Too many Teatard voters here. They'll vote these cocks back in time after time; the traditional Republicans haven't got a chance nor the Democrats for that matter.

Any use of threat against legislators should be taken seriously. It's not just for their safety. You cannot let a subtle hand skew legislative process.

Once you see one of the personal emails, the code is not at all hard to crack.  This could easily be a former staffer, or a lobbyist who once received an email from any Rep's personal email address.

I wouldn't put it past Steve Stockman, if I thought he was smart enough to figure out how to create an anonymous email, but there are lots of possibiliies out there.

It's hard to pick out the particular crazy one when you're looking in the asylum.

I think the email outlined their "logic." It would be an impeachable offense if we were to default.

Couldn't imagine anyone in Congress doing that.

This whole situation reminds me of old words of wisdom:

"It is well to carefully look at the new rascals before you throw the old rascals out."

Translation:  NEVER, EVER tempt Murphy by saying, 'It couldn't get any worse.'
