Oh, and stay safe, everyone in the path of this storm.

99.998er: eraser8: 99.998er: Maybe you should get out more or go back to California to be happy. I do not mean that to be condescending, just for you to be happy.

I knew I loved California when I had just finished sky-diving and my friends and I had a hard time deciding whether we wanted to go skiing or go to the beach.  Each option was equally attractive.

If I'd come to Atlanta from any other place, I suspect I wouldn't be so negative.  Atlanta isn't a terrible place compared to some other places I've lived...but, compared to California, I hate it (even if I'm defending it from some of the nasty things people are saying about it now).

OK...I am on your side, even though I love Atlanta. My nephew from San Diego came for a bit and was not impressed. Guess it has to grow on you and know where to go.

When I think about it, I shouldn't really say that I hate Atlanta.  I hate the eastern 5/6th of North America.  Atlanta is actually probably the best place that I've lived outside of California.

Maybe it's just that those of us who've lived in California are completely farking spoiled.

we've had predictions anywhere from 3"-7"+ here. looks like temps will be borderline for a mix early on then changing over to snow. I don't need to get out but I hope the lights stay on. no backup heat here. elec only.

mr lawson: 99.998er: mr lawson: 99.998er: Do you have a better plan with the limited resources available? Since storms like this reach the South maybe once a decade, what is your idea? Flamethrowers to clear 285?

err...was that directed at me or the "enlighten, common sense" guy?

At you, Mr. Lawson.

My "idea" is doing exactly what you all are doing and what we are doing up here in knoxville...the best we can..for something we don't get very often.

OK, must have misinterpreted you earlier. Stay warm and stay safe. Keep off roads if at all possible.

Then at least you should be better off than me.  You should be seeing snow, mostly.   I'm ITP -- but, thankfully, north of I-20.   Still, my neighborhood is full of trees.  Full.  Of.  Trees.

If power stays on and all I get is snow and a bit of ice, I'm good.  I've got supplies.  My big worry is that power will be out and I won't be able to leave because nearly every street around my house is heavily shaded...and, that means stubbornly persistent ice -- even with temps in the 40s.

Perspective I guess, If I lived outside the Perimeter in the suburbs it would be like any other city. Actually living inside such a perimeter probably would not be too different than any other city. I like Atlanta though, the people are cool and diverse. Actually all of my friends here are transplants from somewhere else. Not sure if I know a true Atlantan,

Walker: Really Atlanta? Really? This isn't the Apocalypse. It's a one day storm. You will be fine with the food you already have. No need to clear out groceries stores. You will be 43 degrees Thursday, 48 Friday and Saturday, and 58 Sunday. One day below freezing. That's it. Calm the f*ck down.

lots of trees here. I fell 3 of them this summer after one fell on the house and totaled a bedroom and abou 1/2 my roof.

Worst winter since, i don't know, 2010. Stay home in the south. We'll get ours tomorrow. I'm guessing 12"-18" here, on top of about 8" of snow and ice already on the ground. I hope I'm wrong in a good way.

I hate this farking shiat with a passion. To think I had a job offer making more money in Hong Kong but my wife missed her life. Christ.

Stay in Norfolk.

Or better yet, come stay in Virginia Beach. Our weather will be balmy in comparison.

You're missing the point. I am sure this storm will be handled better than the last, but us northerners just thought it was funny watching declared states of emergency, and people failing to slow down and drive. There is nothing to defend against. It is a simple joke. I am sure people will do better this time, but in the last storm, it was obvious some folks didn't take the threat seriously and were driving like idiots. Some people drive like idiots up here too, but apparently a lot more did in the last storm. The congestion was a result of piss poor planning on parts of both the government and the people. Now shut the hell up while we laugh at you for our own amusement. It is all in jest.

Now I am going to mock your idiot governor for declaring a state of emergency over this.

Look, I think we all recognize that freezing rain and ice is nothing to screw with, but the combination of a lack of plows and no clue how to plan your day around, much less drive in 2-5 inches of snow IS in fact quite comical.

I will laugh at everyone in the South dying because I live in an area that gets snow regularly.

Yes. EVERYONE IS DYING. You misjudged that, too.
