What is a "union boss" anyway?  Union leaders are elected by members, they aren't appointed by management, so who are they supposed to be "bossing"?

Well, OK. If this is a legit claim (and, after reading the article, this is merely an allegation, and not even against Solis), then appropriate punitive or corrective steps should be taken. See, it isn't difficult.

Seriously? Secretary of Labor takes 11 trips on a union owned jet and the first thing you people do is attack Republicans? So nobody sees the problem with what she did?

2014-02-11 02:57:16 PM
I liked Solis and am definitely pro-union but why in the hell does a union need a private jet? She screwed up by not disclosing the rides she received. Solis is running for LA County Supervisor which is one of the most powerful political posts in the nation, only five supes for 10 million people.

Being appointed to some post is the same as being elected?

based on the way things are if anything the unions aren't bribing and schmoozing enough elected/appointed officials.

I bet she was also somehow involved that night in Benghazi.

No it was not wrong.  Citizens united... this is now free speech and how dare you imply that Unions don't have the same free speech rights as corporations.

But when corporations do it, its fine?

The lawsuit accuses Solis of not reporting flights to the Federal Elections Commission on the Union's jet.
...
Solis is not specifically named as a defendant in the lawsuit filed January 6. Long time IUOE leader William Waggoner, his wife,  son, and several key members of the union's hierarchy are listed as Defendants.

Dafug?

Well in that case they need to re-instate her and give her a hearing before Congress before they throw her down the Tarpian Cliff.

Here is a less derpy version of the story. It's an internal union squabble, apparently with little or no actual evidence at hand. Oh, and I apologize for Godwinning the thread.

What's awesome is that you're willing to focus on some nontroversy like this while proving to be one of the biggest water carriers for social conservatives here at Fark, no question.

Republicans abusing their power to downgrade America's credit rating and shut down essential services because of ACA= good

Unions legally providing transportation= the scandal of the ages, the GOTCHA moment that finally brings Dems down

Dude I can read you like a book.

oh christ

ok i will use small words for you

"Citizens united... this is now free speech"

that is not what citizens united did. this has nothing to do with citizens united. it also has nothing to do with free speech. the only alleged impropriety is failing to declare it, not that the trips were actually taken which would be fine now as well as prior to citizens united. since, again, citizens united has farkall to do with any of this.

Dude, seeing as how you've carried an entire reservoir for the social conservative establishment in this country, I wouldn't be using that expression against anyone and thinking they have any weighted meaning.

Just an indefensible observation.

And yes, I support the Democratic Party and progressive ideology. There is no wrong in this, no shame, no need to use easy to understand words to defend myself.

You sir, on the other hand, contribute to the march back to the Dark Ages with your posts and your ideology.

You left out an extremely important word. Again, the plaintiffs in this case do not seem to have amassed much in the way of actual evidence, at least insofar as the articles I've found suggest.

Dude, projecting doesn't make my indefensible position any better.
