Surely if a Star Wars reference was desired a more appropriate one would be something about a Bacta tank or replacing a hand chopped off by a close relative, etc.

That sounds awesome. The side benefit of not having to do animal testing is big all by itself.

I wonder what it would feel like to be around a whole bunch of really well-done human parts, even ones that were created purely for testing. If I was a researcher, I wonder if I'd be able to keep myself from anthropomorphizing realistic-looking human body parts.
