Clinton got a blowjob.
George W. Bush got us into two wars which cost upwards of 200,000 lives, one of which had nothing to do with 9/11, and all the while crashed the budget surplus that Clinton created while cozying up to the people who were helping our enemies in the first place.

So tell us more about how Clinton allegedly "using the IRS" made him worse than the next 10 years of our nation's existence?

Oh, wait. Lemme go get my friend who's crippled for the rest of his life because of the Iraqi War. He'd want to hear your explanation.

So the federal budget deficit in the year 2000 was 18 billion, and we were on track for one of the first fiscal surpluses in recent history?

Gee. I wonder where that got us.

By the end of FY2008, we were operating at Deficit of 461 Billion Dollars, a deficit fueled by a highly wasteful war that had gone on for 7 years at that point.

Absolutely brilliant.

Clinton's large budget surpluses also owe much to the Social Security tax on payrolls. Social Security taxes now bring in more than the cost of current benefits, and the "Social Security surplus" makes the total deficit or surplus figures look better than they would if Social Security wasn't counted. But even if we remove Social Security from the equation, there was a surplus of $1.9 billion in fiscal 1999 and $86.4 billion in fiscal 2000. So any way you count it, the federal budget was balanced and the deficit was erased, if only for a while.

Well, the numbers in the article I linked came from CBO historical data which is linked in TFA, so someone obviously is mistaken.  And since I can't see the direct source of yours, that kind of narrows it down, doesn't it Sparky?

Ok read this slowly so you understand: it isn't about either Obama or Bill it's about Hillary.  In the next few weeks there will be a flood of this stuff.  Some of it like this piece will come from the right.  Some of it like the Hillary Papers from yesterday actually will be leaked out of the Clinton camp.

Before anyone rolls their eyes and tells me I have to put on my tinfoil hat remember that those notes and diaries were taken by Hills BFF's hubby and donated to a Univ. Arkansas after said BFF died in 2000.  They later became public in 2010.  4 years later someone tells the Free Beacon "Hey guess what go look at these."   If Hillary thought there was anything there she felt would hurt her run for office she would have asked to it removed before they were donated.  I know I would.  The bits in those papers fall into 1 of 2 categories "Of course you knew I lied about that so why are are you bringing it up now?" and "Of course you knew Bill is a man whore so why are you bringing it up now?"  So nothing there damages her but it was a hell of a kick off to her 2016 campaign.

If you go to this page you'll see that the total federal debt never decreased. Even after the accounting tricks used to show a surplus it still didn't lead to a decrease in the federal debt. It was still good that spending was held in check enough during the dotcom bubble to at least get it to where it was, but we all know what happens to bubbles. They pop and there was a recession.

Which was based on the growth during the .com bubble.  I remember that crashed the first time in 1999 then even worse along with the stock market after 911.

I wasn't trying to do that, but I do acknowledge that I took your 'some' and turned it into 'all'... my bad. Anyway, it's an interesting theory in general, but I think it is strained in the case of the "hillary called monica a poopy-head in private emails" story from the other day.

Before Clinton was elected, the Conservatives/Republicans argued that we should not elect Clinton because, if elected, he would massively increase liberal programs and drive up the deficits, and that his plan to raise taxes would destroy the economy.

After Clinton's two terms in office, the Conservatives/Republicans claim that the deficits did not decrease fast enough but, in any event, possibly running a surplus was a terrible thing so what was really needed was massive tax cuts instead of paying off debt.

The 1990s was when I discovered the Conservatives/Republicans were completely full of shiat, if anyone cares.
