There's two - one was built as a crossover station between two lines and was designed only to be used after football matches, but they couldn't get the lines scheduled to make it work correctly, so they use it as a parking garage for trains. The other was built along a connecting line that never actually went into operation.

Several stations were closed for WW2 because service was reduced. Some have reopened, while others are still shuttered for a variety of reasons, which include them being too close to other stations (one is less than 100 meters away from another station) or they were too small to serve the expanded service after the war. Basically, Paris went all-in on metro rail development, and overbuilt their system compared to the population density of Paris. It's still the second most used Metro in the world, even without the extra stations. And we're talking about 8-12 closed/abandoned/ghost stations, is my understanding, compared to 245 that are in operation in a system that was first opened in 1900. It's not like they're hurting for capacity, I'd say.

However, the initiative would potentially extend to other ghost stations including Porte Molitor in the 16th arrondissement and Haxo in the 19th arrondissement, both of which have never been operational and are currently inaccessible from the street.

There's a better option for Haxo. Turn this:
