Good. As someone who had a number of brushes with suicide in his life, I can say that the most difficult part of calling the suicide hotline is knowing you'll have to speak to someone on the phone, something people with many anxiety disorders have a lot of trouble doing. I think this is a fantastic idea.

Also, major props to suicide hotlines in general. They do amazing work, and literally save lives.

Carth: If someone thinks about it and decides they want to end their life why shouldn't they be allowed to? It is their life to do what they want with.

Most people who are suicidal don't want to die. They either feel compelled to do so, or feel that they have no other options left to them, but they don't WANT to die. That's why they seek out help, that's why they go to the emergency room, or call a suicide hotline, because they are standing at the edge of the proverbial cliff and are desperately looking for something to hold onto.

I think about offing* myself every day, but hey, there's nothing immediate going on so I can always do it tomorrow. And that's how I've made it through the last twenty years. Counseling gives external perspective to people who have no internal perspective, but it's only temporary.

Don't besiege Darwin. Use sappers to blow his walls, then just march in and take over. Sieges take too long.

I have no problem with this...

Any access to another person for a desperate, depressed person is a good thing.

I also want to send a sincere thank you to the admin who changed the tag from "stupid" to "interesting."

This is a good article for people dealing with depression and needing someone to talk to.

wildcardjack: I was fully immersed in the spa at my club and three high school aged teens had their feet in the spa while they were busy txting. The trio were there, but not present. I guess some of the millenials might be more comfortable txting than speaking about their problems.

I would like to believe they were texting each other in lieu of conversation.
