Isn't the ocean in heat a good thing? Isn't that how lakes are born?

So if the thing you can measure isn't lining up with your predictions, blame it on another variable that you CAN'T MEASURE.

That was a surprisingly decent article for the Daily Mail.

They blamed it on the Pacific trade winds, which are measured.

Heat in the oceans and not melting ice caps are the actual primary reason for sea level rise.

Interesting that no mention of the effect of increasing the surface area of the ice sheets. Yeah, yeah... surface area doesn't equal amount. Not my point.

One of the problems talked about a few years back was less ice coverage meant less reflective area to reduce absorbed sunlight.

With the reports of the ice sheets expanding I would assume that the reflective properties are having some effect on temperature that is being ignored or not reported. I wonder how much.

Or have the ice sheets started to melt again? I can't keep track from week to week. Or is it day to day?

Or they could just expose the fact that deniers only go back 15 (soon to be 16) years because 1998 is so high up on that baseline that it pulls all the years around it out of whack.

Ex: You go bowling. You roll 98, 96, 104, 106, 110, 125, 220, 132, 150, 185, 200, 215, 210, 225, and 240.  According to denier logic, you didn't improve at all since that 220.

'Libbies' also 'believe' in evolution, germs, a roughly-spherical Earth, gravity, and a lot of other things that are backed up by science. What's your point?

Not so much. They've seized upon it as a vehicle to justify more government control of the economy and your life. If we love Gaia, we'll give up our plush, wasteful, independent suburban lifestyles and move into "planned community" concrete tenements, where we can be guided into a more virtuous lifestyle by our  intellectual betters. And of course, we'll be better controlled so we can be shaped into their idea of the ideal, Euro-style society.

And the Dachas will be for high government officials and the intelligentsia...

You're a Creationist who thinks the polio vaccine and HIV/AIDS are hoaxes.  It's not surprising that you're completely ignorant of science in general.

You may also wish to ask yourself if Svante Arrhenius was just "venting about George W" when he published his 1896 article linking carbon dioxide levels to climate change.

Hey, look.  It's the 2014 update to Sarah Palin's FEMA concentration camps.

A simplified version of policy changes that can avert the worst outcomes is here.  You may wish to write the nice people at Princeton University and let them know they forgot "16. Smarter people move the dumber people into concrete yurts.", because they seem to be heavily focused on fission, wind, PV, generation efficiency, planting forests, etc.

Or, you know, deal in reality.

For the record, no... i'm not a Creationist... Stop saying that, asshole.   ALL of science is theory.... Just because i contemplate what theories seem valid, doesn't mean i doubt that there is a scientific explanation somewhere. ...   Does it make you feel comfortable to put me in a box?   Well stop it.
Do i believe in Big Bang?  maybe, maybe not... Do i believe in God? Maybe, maybe not.   I'm not sure... And at least i can admit that humans don't know everything.

So, because i tossed out an intriguing theory FIVE YEARS ago, (which you apparently bookmarked), which you are using against me on a completely different topic?  There's a name for that.  not sure what its called, but its clearly a breach of message board etiquette, and so you automatically lose the arguement, sorry guy.

What a scary chart.  The problem is that this represents a mere change of of 0.06 degrees in ocean temperature since 1960.  Nothing to panic about; the increase is negligible.

As outlined by Dr. Judith Curry, Professor and Chair of the School of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences at the Georgia Institute of Technology.
http://judithcurry.com/2013/09/26/the-relentless-increase-of-ocean-h ea t/

"The punchline of his calculations:  the heating in the layer 0-2000 m translates to 0.065 C +/- 20%.  His calculations are essentially confirmed from this ARGO page where they confirm that since the 1960s, the warming of that layer was 0.06 °C."

If God zapped down to earth tomorrow, and said, "Oh... by the way... that Big Bang business? Yeah, its a bunch of bs".    Are you going to question him?   Are you going to show him some irrefutable proof of what you think occured 14 billion years ago?  Its the theory, guy... Right now, its the best theory we got... Guess what.... Modern day scientists think scientists from 100 years ago were fools.... What makes you think we will be looked at differently by scientists 100 years in the future?
