I quit watching when the networks (NBC et. al) decided I'd rather see features about the Olympics. I don't care about the heartwarming struggles to get to this point. Mommy and Daddy had to drive you to the rink every day. Oh boo farking hoo. You fell down and broke your coccix, big farking deal. Everyone competing had struggles. Just quit talking and show the damn event. Show the damn thing live. I want to know when it happens, not 10hrs later. It has been too much to ask so I quit watching.

/quit watching when MTV stopped showing music videos
/yeah I'm old, get off my damn lawn.

Guelph35:Which means it is not a sport, it is a talent show.  American Idol is just as much a sport as Figure Skating or Slopestyle.

Curling is definitely not a sport.  One of my tests of whether or not something is a sport is whether or not they can do it while smoking or getting liquored up.  If the answer is yes to either of those questions it is a hobby.  Golf is a perfect example of that, which brings up another test:  Can a 70 year old guy compete in it?  If the answer is yes it is just some old fart jacking around in the grass hitting balls around.

Mikey1969: Shostie: spman: Am I the only one who finds the Winter Games much more dull compared to the Summer Games? There seems to be a lot more variety in the Summer Olympics, but with the winter games it mostly boils down to skiing, skating, snowboarding, sledding, and curling. Some of it is entertaining, but the most part it just gets a big yawn from me.

Don't forget the biathlon.

Skiing AND shooting.

I think the biathlon would be more fun to watch if they could take out the competition...

Obviously referencing Australia but could easily have been written by a non-Southern-state American (the spelling & grammar are too good to be from a Southerner).

It is doubtful that Twain wrote that rant, he's been dead for a good while.

pslong009: In addition to all the other stuff for which they deserve hate, I really hate how NBC went from a nice grid layout for the streaming video on their website for the 2012 Summer Olympics to "Put everything on one page in a list, with no semblance of order, and make that page impossible to find from the main page".

Yeah, that's my personal rage as well.  Their web designers pulled out all the stops and went direct to potatoe.

Whatever.  The winter Olympics are for women and gays.  I have no desire to watch dudes in spandex riding a sled or people prancing about ice dancing.  BTW, Sidney Crosby is the favorite for the gold in ice dancing.  Hockey (both men's and women's) is the only thing worth watching.  And even that annoys the crap out of me because it jacks around with the the NHL schedule.

you would see an actual outcry if the majority of americans watching had already seen the cbc and bcb programming models.   most people have no reference point of pure suck on the suck spectrum.

I forget who called it the World Slipping and Sliding Championships. Maybe Jim Murray. He nailed it.

I haven't really been watching the Olympics, so I can't really complain about anything.

However, I DO enjoy watching people on the internet whine about NBC's coverage of the Olympics, so if I could get some better coverage of that I would be happier.

hb0mb: My favorite part was during the opening ceremonies when the lady newscaster told everyone if they wanted to know more about the Russian alphabet they should, "google it."  Gee, newslady, that's very helpful.

I want to see the video of Ballmer when he heard that comment.
