North Korea is just farked. If America does anything significant without China on board, there's a good chance it'd kick off World War 3. If China does something, it's doubtful that the North Koreans' lives will improve at all; China will likely use them as even cheaper, more exploitable labor.

There is an American being held by a foreign government in a slave labor camp.

Now, I don't know about any of you, but this is actually a time when I think war might be necessary.

North Korea can not do this and we cant let it stand. These are our fellow citizens.

North Korea still technically has China's support, because China *really* doesn't want the US military on its doorstep. A war with North Korea carries a very real risk of kicking off a war with China or a third world war.

From all accounts, that regime is pretty much on it's last legs. The people are starved, pissed, and getting more and more of an idea that there actually is a world outside of there. Support and supplies to the country are getting cut off left and right, all their neighbors wanna kick their ass, etc. Won't be long until the people hopefully give Kimmy Jr. the Marie Antoinette treatment (and Ghadafi his corpse afterwards).

Benghazi wasn't attacked by a foreign government; invasions are not effective tools to fight terrorism, as proven in Iraq and Afghanistan.  And attacking North Korea would be phenomenally stupid, due to NK's ties to China. I, for one, am not exactly eager to kick off world war 3.

Before ANYTHING happens with the North Korean regime, they have to completely lose China's support. And if they lose China's support, the most likely outcome is that China will just completely take over North Korea, rather than let the American military (or some other foreign military) do it.

I'm pretty sure the state department doesn't guarantee anything for Americans going to NK. In fact, they try to warn Americans not to go there, seeing as how there is a technical state of war between the countries.

Seriously, we ask them to stop their nukes in exchange for food and other supplies and they say "Where's the stuff?"  "Here."  They quit for a while, then start their reactors up again and we're like "Hey, stop it."  "Make us."  "Here's some more stuff."  "Where's the stuff?"  "Here."  Then they quit for a while, then start their reactors up again and we're like "Hey, stop it."

I don't get it.  Bill Clinton got two hot girls out of there in less than a day.  I realize Bae admitted guilt in trying to overthrow the Best Korean regime, but he's a lunatic who needs help, not a radical warmonger.  He has as much chance of changing their government as chimpanzees have of building their own rocket and sending it to the moon.  Just let his crazy ass go and we'll take care of it.

For a moment there, I thought that might be the best possible outcome for the people of Best Korea, but not likely to happen considering that China isn't exactly chomping at the bit to feed 25 million starving Koreans. The best outcome for...well pretty much everybody (but fat boy) would be an internal coup that results in normalized relations with...second best Korea?

As for bad things happening to a Jebus freak? Take note that not a single pirate regalia sporting Pastafarian has EVER been held prisoner in ANY Korea (AFAIK).

I kind of agree, but on the other hand, US citizens take on a certain level of personal responsibility when they go abroad, out of America's jurisdiction.  I don't think we should set the precedent that the Marines are your personal bodyguards overseas.
