He didn't see that coming?

2014-02-10 08:28:43 AM
Well, at least he won't turn into Comstock now.

Jesus...bet he didn't see that coming.

Get that one out of the way early.

Why didn't he just stand up and walk to shore?

He might have seen it, he did say he had the spirit of a mermaid.  And now, he sleeps with them.

Jesus tried that after he was crucified but he kept sinking because of the holes in his feet.

You know if she wanted to stop Comstock's birth, she should have prevented him from being at Wounded Knee. Thats the real genesis of him, not the babtism.

Ok..... Even as one of the last remaining Christians in FARK..... I laughed at that comment.

I clicked thinking it was a clever play on the article or something. It was not. Thanks for the odd read.

More of a loss really.

2014-02-10 08:45:34 AM
Don't worry, he'll be coming back.  He did tie a knot in his cloth before entering the river, so that means a mermaid carried him away instead of the current.

How long shall they kill our prophets,
While we stand aside and look? Ooh!

2014-02-10 09:03:21 AM
Sometimes I think to myself how cool it would be if I could blame all the bad and/or stupid decisions in my life on jesus/god/satan/mermaids.... but then I think how utterly retarded I'd feel for scamming people.

The only thing that's of interest in this article is that some con artist killed himself due to sheer stupidity. How much sympathy would you give me if I went out and held a religious ceremony in the middle of traffic and then got hit and killed?

I truly hope in the next century or two people wise up and use some common sense.

The whole plot is, frankly, stupid.  Just enjoy it as a FPS and don't worry too much about the "deep, immersive" story.

She couldn't do that because then she would have prevented her own birth.

I think the plot is actually quite brilliant. Usually plot holes just turn out to be things that have reasons behind them that someone missed - such as this one. In a story that's as long as a video game it's perfectly normal to miss things. Many people miss plot details in movies and those are only 2 hours long. Bioshock Infinite wasn't that long as far as video games go, but still many times longer than a movie.

That's great, but the problem with Bioshock Infinite's story wasn't plot holes.

The mermaid aspect strikes me as more pre-christian superstition than religion.

The plot is actually rather good, a notch above the usual video game fare. What lets it down is for all the hifaluting, reality tearing time travel set in a floating city in the sky you still spend the majority of the game rummaging through trash containers looking for candy bars.

a) I did not suggest that this event was related to christianity

b) You seem to think that there is a difference between religion and superstition.

What's the difference?
Belief in gods, mermaids, fairies, it's all the same.

Think about it.  If you had your choice between going to Epworth or leaving with a mermaid, would you go back to Epworth?
