Why the obvious tag? The KKK are all Republicans.

2004-01-29 07:23:35 PM
Why would you question the obvious tag and then make a statement to support it?

2004-01-29 07:28:01 PM
...maybe I misunderstood the use of the tag.

I took it as, it's obvious because since there are going to be so many Dems in town, they're going have a Klan rally, too.

I guess I just didn't get it...

2004-01-29 07:32:41 PM
Geez, I drop in here just to say "great headline" and findout the tag is more controversial than the story.

2004-01-29 07:37:56 PM
robbyking Way to go. Call it like it is.

2004-01-29 08:14:23 PM
Yes, because everyone knows there are no dems in the klan.

2004-01-29 08:16:11 PM
Before this goes to political flamewar, let me just give robbyking a quick props on the headline. I chuckled, it was good.

2004-01-29 08:39:31 PM
The question is, if you had to choose between Bush and the KKK, who would you prefer in office?

I'm undecided, since I think both are equally retarded.

I live in a rural North Carolina county and I have met some of these Klan types. They are still Democrats. Their inbred, trailer-dwelling families have been Yellow dogs since the "War of Northern Aggression". They are still pissed at Lincoln for freeing the slaves.

When I was busy helping organize a county Libertarian party (all 3 of us), I was working a booth at the county fair. I conducted a 10 question survey. The results were overwhelmingly Conservative. Only one out of 130 respondents was on the liberal side of the scale, and he was from a radio station in Raleigh. They were also overwhelmingly registered Democrats. This county (Franklin) elects Democrats for National, State, and Local elections almost every time.

These people are Democrats because Daddy was a Democrat as was his father before him.

Welcome to the South.

I bet this will be a busy day for Senator Byrd. Should I be a Klansman or be a Senator. AWW fark it they will elect me anyway. I will go to both. God bless the two party system in the USA.

2004-01-29 11:02:08 PM
Another race-based political flame-fest?

No, thanks all the same.

Unfreakable: I totally agree. Nice headline, robbieking. Now I'm off to find my Nomex suit and get shelter before the flamefest begins.

I am so there...

Mildly lives in Nashville...

[The KKK are all Republicans.]

Odd. Historically they've always been democrats. Oh, wait - did I just shatter your comfortable illusion? Damn, sorry 'bout that.

2004-01-29 11:27:07 PM
Funny. I'd think the Klan and Sharpton would have much in common.

[I'd think the Klan and Sharpton would have much in common.]

Well...them and the nation of islam wackos. But all of them will beat the crap out of you for pointing out how they really all want the same thing.

Odd. Historically they've always been conservatives. Oh, wait - did I just shatter your comfortable illusion? Damn, sorry 'bout that.

[Odd. Historically they've always been conservatives. Oh, wait - did I just shatter your comfortable illusion? Damn, sorry 'bout that.]

Arguing matters of historical fact with drooling idiots just isn't worth it some days. Tell ya what sparky - why don't you go check out who formed the KKK and the southern wing of the democrat part after the Civil war. Does the term 'dixie-crat' ring any bells? One MORE obvious historical fact to hit you with before I give up completely - the REPUBLICANS were the ones who freed the slaves and fought for civil rights. Democrats fought against them (with the aid of the KKK and other related groups) tooth and claw for decades.

Lemme know when you bone up on history.

2004-01-29 11:42:15 PM
Anyone else remember when Bush made that campaign stop at Bob Jones U. back in 2000? What's up with that?

2004-01-29 11:42:32 PM
is their any point in life if we have evolved to such an advanced state and yet there are still idiots like this about?

/really don't know where to begin with the klan

2004-01-29 11:45:20 PM
Ever really want to have fun with the Klan? Compare thier views with that of the Nation of Islam. Note similarities in loud voice. Hilarity (and fist fights) ensue shortly.

There was a time when white folks thought that black folks were too simple-minded to make there own way in the world. They needed to be fed, clothed, and housed behind the big house by a rich white guy, looking out for there welfare. Thank goodness there isn't anyone left that thinks that way.

Weaver95, notice how I didn't use the term "Democrat" or "Republican". I used conservative. CON-SER-VA-TIVE. Sure Democrats use to be a Southern oriented party, that beleived in states rights, and were the party less dedicated to minorities, and was hated by those minorities. That Democratic Party has changed, but I tend to forget what party tends to lean that way. Hmmmm.
/sparky

2004-01-29 11:50:06 PM
poor Nashville. They're gonna be surrounded by asshats. And now I see the KKK will show up too!

2004-01-29 11:51:33 PM
The Democruds of today are hardly the same as their Daddy's and Daddy's before 'em. Those guys believed in strong defense (Roosevelt, Truman, Kennedy, Johnson), tax cuts to grow the economy (Kennedy) and were against integration and equal rights for girls, coloreds and commies. It was the GOP that lead the fight for civil rights, started the EPA and OSHA, and fought against the Klan, which BTW began in the north. Indiana and Illinois, to be exact, because they didn't want all of the freed slaves moving there...

Puh-LEEEZE people, just because you believe a certain way and follow the political dogma of a particular party (either one!) doesn't mean you can't actually read some history. Don't take what you hear as gospel unless you already know it to be true.

Until the 60's, Republicans and Democrats were all basically conservative. Today's "Liberal" didn't come into being until the hippies, draft dodgers and flower children grew up and took over the Democratic party.

2004-01-29 11:51:42 PM
I wasn't sticking my fingers in my ear, because I didn't reload the page to see your response when I wrote that. I'm not a Democrat anyway, I hate the 2-party system, their just the better of two evils. At the moment.

EXCELLENT!!!

Why can we end up with protestors here in Canada being pepper sprayed, with anti-war demonstrators in America killed by the National Guard, with all sorts of brutal action taken against non-violent protests everywhere in the world, but we can never get the cops to start pounding the hell out of the KKK? Rubber bullets are for those who deserve the broken bones and mushed-up organs, like people who want an entire race dead.

I have no sympathy for the Klan or any other organized hatemongers. Let 'em burn (no, really, set the bastards on fire.)

2004-01-29 11:54:09 PM
SmurfCrusher today's liberal will be different from future liberals, that's pretty obvious. Times change. At the time FDR was a FLAMING liberal, as was Lincoln and Washington before him. At the time, though, now they'd be conservative, because they wouldn't be use to societal changes.

2004-01-29 11:54:27 PM
[notice how I didn't use the term "Democrat" or "Republican".]

Notice me not caring about you're hair splitting. You always spend this much time avoiding issues and ignoring historical facts?

Face it, the democrats have always been hostile racists at heart.

Rallies for Ku Klux Klan, Democrats

Ahh, but the submitter repeats himself.

2004-01-29 11:58:27 PM
Cool, they were racsist assholes, but they were conservative. The parties have changed. I can care less if Democrats WERE rascist, I care about which party is rascist now. Why must you think everything is lined up by party. The parties, and it's members have changed their views over the years. Why don't you read a history book? I realize that Dems WERE rascist conservative assmunches, but now they are moderate-lefty civil rights liking politicians.

2004-01-30 12:00:15 AM
TheJoe03 That was an appropriate, and absolutely correct statement. People change, parties change, values change. One man's flaming liberal is another man's conservative and vice versa.

The Democratic party, when the KKK was established, was decidedly anti-black, anti-woman and anti-anything besides the status quo. The were also very conservative by our standards. Using tags like Republican and Democrat is only good for about 15 minutes these days. The more things stay the same, the more they change...

2004-01-30 12:03:00 AM
Why thank you, SmurfCrusher.

2004-01-30 12:03:05 AM
[You let us know when you're ready to discuss the last 50 years.]

Facinating how people can just ignore inconvienent history isn't it?

[Cool, they were racsist assholes, but they were conservative.]

Except that, they weren't....

2004-01-30 12:05:45 AM
How were the Dems not conservative at the time, Weaver95, enlighten me.

Okay. In the last 50 years there's been 1 black Secretary of State. There's been 1 black National Security Adviser. There have been how many black cabinet members? There have been how many black and hispanic judges filibustered for appointment to long-vacant federal bench positions?

In the last 50 years, the Republican Party has done more to lift people up, not hand out crutches and holding people down in a cycle of poverty driven by government housing, food programs and cash handouts to buy votes. That would be the Democratic Party. Ask Miguel Estrada who he thinks are racist assmunchers.

Robert Byrd from a 1993 interview with CNN:

Q: What has been your biggest mistake and your biggest success?

A: Well, it's easy to state what has been my biggest mistake. The greatest mistake I ever made was joining the Ku Klux Klan. And I've said that many times. But one cannot erase what he has done. He can only change his ways and his thoughts. That was an albatross around my neck that I will always wear. You will read it in my obituary that I was a member of the Ku Klux Klan.

You'll never hear language like that people like Trent Lott and Jesse Helms. You'll never hear Bush apologize for that campaign stop at Bob Jones U.

When is Trent Lott going to apologize for his association with the Council of Conservative Citizens?

Check it out: http://www.cofcc.org/

Robert Byrd (Democrat) West Virginia.

George Wallace (Democrat) Alabama

Secretary of State Colin Powell (Republican)

National Security Advisor Dr. Condoleeza Rice (Republican)

But, SmurfCrusher, you have to realize as much as Dems want to support minorities, their Political brain won't let a conservative into such an important position, like the Federal Courts, which obviousley effect everyone. Not so much Democratic racism, but more like not wanting someone to have a high postion that conflict with your views.

2004-01-30 12:11:12 AM
You guys who think the Democrats are somehow still the party of choice for racist Americans:

Remind me why Howard Dean was so stupid to think that confederate flag wavers would ever vote democrat.
