(Courthouse News Service)   You know your crazy uncle who said he was tested on during the cold war by the U.S. Army? He may be telling the truth, the government has until Feb 17 to start letting veterans know about what they did to them   (courthousenews.com) divider line 80

Bastards!

So when do we take the instigators to a civil court for being mother farking c*nts and pay out the soldiers for pain and suffering?

The thing is I agree with him. I avoided moving from the reserves to the regs because I really simply didn't trust them or the government. And in hind sight I am so glad I didn't, else I would have gone and killed people for bullshiat (WMD's ... never forget the WMD's ... lying mother farkers.)

But the people joining don't deserve it, it's the people at the top that deserve it.  A lot of the time people join because where they grow up there's not a lot of options to get ahead in life. That's why recruiting offices are more prevalent in low income areas.

You do realize that he's only actually insulting people, if something bad is actually happening to them?

"Anyone stupid enough to agree to have sex with a supermodel that has been fully tested for all STDs and is completely clean, deserves whatever they get"

Doesn't take a terribly stupid person to agree to such a thing.  Certifiable geniuses may well join in on that action, in fact.

Ah, I took you the wrong way then.  So yes, we agree.

Stephen_Falken: Anyone stupid enough to go into the military today deserves whatever they get. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that the whole f*cking capitalist world is nothing but a game of master/slave manipulation. These poor f*cks during the early atomic age were just about the last straw (my dad was one of them). There is nothing left of transparency or democracy in our future, and the best thing we can do is viva la revolución or something.

I'll be right back, someone's at the door

Only the Federal Government could need until a week from Monday to come up with:

"Us, oh nothing...why do you ask?"

Or there could be an executive order to conceal the information for reasons of "state security."

WordyGrrl: In Desert Storm, we had our own "mystery drug." We were not told what that shot was for, what was in it, nothing. We did know it was experimental. If we refused the shot, we wouldn't get paid that month.

At least the medic administering them was cool enough to give us a hint at what that injection was: "It has the same name as a heavy metal band."

Don't forget those "heart pills."

Why? Many Americans distrust the government and many Americans think we are getting into too many conflicts and spending too much on the military.

You can't say "these wars are stupid and I hate the government" and then go sign yourself up unless you are an idiot.

Or you are poor and make a sacrifice of personal views for college money and a decent job to get higher up in the world.

Or you feel you can change the gov from within. I dislike many practices of the federal government. I work for it because it is a good job, and I do what little I can to keep things done properly.

Can I get any compensation if I administered the LSD myself while I was in the Army?  I think the CIA was using mind control to make me do it. Yeah, that's it.  Mind control.

I don't think there was a draft in the cold war.  Or a war, technically.

You can be anyone you want on the internet.  And you choose to be a privileged little shiat that doesn't appreciate what those men and women do for you?  I can see not agreeing with the policies or politicians that sent them over there.  But really, you're going to going to go full retard on our veterans of all people?

You just might wanna rethink that first one, remembering that the Cold War started in the early 50s and continued thru to the break-up of the USSR.

Soooo....I'm not calling bullshiat on the whole thing.....but bullshiat.

1. As far as I can find, Project Paperclip was an operation to turn and integrate German scientists during and directly after World War II.....not so much about testing drugs and gasses on soldiers.

2. From the testing that I know of on soldiers, it was all voluntary.  Like "hey, come over here and try this experimental drink with undisclosed chemicals and tell me how you feel," not exactly tainting the coffee at the chowhall and seeing what happened or piping mustard gas into the barracks A/C system...

3. Also, for good measure, all the citations are to other CourtHouseNews articles, none lead back to any other articles.

So yeah...not the fear and death and crazy messed up CIA a-hole story we were all hoping for...

During Korea and Vietnam, yes, there were drafts.  In between and after, no.

My cousin volunteered for an "experiment" to get early release and some extra money.  This was at Edgewood Arsenal in Maryland right after the Vietnam War ended. He was never the same afterwards, never held a job and died of a brain tumor a few years later.

He would never say what was tested on him, if he even knew, probably sworn to secrecy.

RIP David.  Wish I could post his photo, but I don't have an image hosting service.

Kill and die so multinational oil companies and firms run by the Vice President's buddies can make a few more billion? Come home irreparably damaged and then find out there were no WMDs?

I'm not pissing on everybody who joined up: for some people it might well have been their only chance to get ahead. But they should have other options, and those who do choose to serve should not be dishonored by the government lying the country into a war and then having the mainstream media hard sell them into enlisting.

I feel bad for them that they were taken advantage of and I'm angry that so many of them can't get Uncle Sam to keep the promises he made so they'd do his dirty work.

But it seems like an odd thing to be grateful for. It's too much like "Thanks for sticking your hand in the meat grinder for nothing." It would make more sense to say "Suppose now you help turn the meat grinder off?"

By the way, what's with the 'Nam and Desert Storm vets who cuss the government for all the harm it did them and then turn around and encourage a new crop of young people to enlist? "I got fiddled about by Uncle Sam, you should get some Bad Touch too!"

I'm so glad the obama administration is fighting to protect the rights of the state over these surfs.

They knew what they were signing up for. let 'em rot.

Target Builder

Step 1 : State Governments need to stop being douchebags to the extent that the federal government needs to a step in on a regular basis to stop them from violating people's constitutional rights.

Damn straight we should never have allowed the states to run the military rather than making that a Federal department.

Tests, hell.  I got the REAL THING, babby!  Still get the occasional aftereffects from it.  Actually got multiple dozens of effects.  But nothing showed up on my 5 minutes of outprocessing checks at the Oshiat AB Medical Center with my unit commander and 3 others impaitently waiting in the van in the parking lot.  So my proving anything or not is dependent on how the VA is feeling that day.  O well.
