As has been noted millions of times before, if winning and losing in an event is based entirely on some asshole's subjective opinion, it doesn't belong in the Olympics. It's an art, not a sport.

I happened to be watching some of the figure skating stuff (don't ask me why because I don't know other than I'm a heterosexual man that has an excuse of a girlfriend who wants to watch) but the judges seemed to be giving out low scores for everybody. According to the announcers, anyway. I wouldn't know what a good score is.

my lip balm addiction: Figure skating isn't a sport. Why isn't this in the Entertainment tab?

Because FARK YOU, that's why!

ChrisDe: For the record, I'm glad baseball remains so subjective. Stopping the game after every pitch to determine if it really was a ball or a strike would take way too long.

No it wouldn't.  A computer can figure out a ball or strike before the ball is even in the catchers mitt.

Examples of non-sports.

You'd have a point if happened in EVERY GODDAMNED GAME!!!

Bad calls happen, and while it's fun to speculate that the refs/umps who make them are on the take, the bribing of Olympic figure skating judges is documented fact.

Is this going to be in every thread and will  it eventually evolve into something silly, like wondering why a wrestling thread isn't in a particular tab?

Those aren't based "entirely on...subjective opinion."  The job of the refs is to determine what happened, which is objective.  Although their view of reality is inherently subjective, the reality which they are supposed to be measuring is objective.  Basically, if a computer can do it in principle, it's objective.

I liked the part where her score was lower than the girl who fell on her ass. That made sense.
